President Donald Trump has claimed that he’s been taking the anti-malaria drug hydroxychloroquine every day in an effort to avoid contracting coronavirus.

Here's trump's quote: “All I can tell you is, so far I seem to be okay,” Trump said. “[One doctor] said out of hundreds of people that he’s treated he hasn’t lost one… If it doesn’t [work] you’re not going to get sick or die.”
He's making an oblique reference to Dr. Vladimir Zelenko, who invented, and has treated almost 2,000 patients with his "Zelenko Protocol". You can get it straight from the horse's mouth on his twitter feed.
And this is Dr. Z's initial cocktail for prophylaxis. How much you wanna bed this is what Trumps doing?
Participants will be divided into 2 groups - intervention (HCQ = 400mg twice on day 1, 400mg / day on day 2, 3, 4, and 5 followed by 400mg once every 05 days, for the next 7 weeks associated with 66 milligrams of zinc sulfate daily for 50 consecutive days; and control group (healthcare workers who decided not to receive the study medication, but who agreed to participate as a control group).

When you look at what apposing experts are saying, you have to make judgments based on what you know and perceive. Do the doctors have a political bent? Are the doctors under influence of a controlling body. Follow the money?

President Trump referenced a doctors letter that he had received just prior to making the decision to take HQL. The doctors letter was instrumental to Trumps decision.
He said he was going to make it available to the press.
Anybody have a link to that letter?
Even if the drug were only 20% effective, it is not harmful; and 20% is better than 0% when you have the disease.

HCQ 200mg 2x/day for 5 days
Azithromycin 500mg once a day for 5 days
Zinc Sulfate 220mg once a day for 5 days

The protocol in my first post to you is his prophylaxis recommendation.
Neither of these has been subjected to the rigorous testing one would ordinarily want, but positive results are being reported. I’m not advocating the treatment, merely pointing out what Trump’s referring to in his statement today.
Some of us actually know more than some doctors at the moment, since they are busy treating patients and we spend all our time studying COVID-19. They are not all familiar with all the symptoms, especially the rarer symptoms. And one told me there is no preventive at this time. I guess he meant no legal one, since it’s not legal here.
The prophylaxis clinical trial in Detroit is comparing daily, weekly, and placebo. Here are the dosages they’re using for that.
Though I don’t think the drug is harmful for most patients, I can see why the FDA won’t immediately sign off on the HDQ cocktail. There are a lot of anecdotal cases out there where it appears to work, along with some independent real time studies by doctors. But, back before the HCQ cocktail became widely used, my daughter, who is an isolation nurse in a nursing home, had many covid cases. She lost some, but some of them who were critically ill just seemed to come right out of it without doing anything else but treat the symptoms.
But, I say if the drug isn’t harmful to you, then take it.
Has anyone figured out who the doctor near Westchester, NY who President Trump mentioned is? Think he was talking about Zelenko or someone else?
Earlier today on TV, I heard Trump say that he was taking the HCQ and Zinc. Which to me makes sense, as when I turned 50, my doctor would no longer give me a z-pak for a sinus infection and told me it was because the z-pak because of the possibility of it causing heart problems.

Hadn’t seen the letter Zelenko sent the president. Just read it on twitter. It has a recommendation for prophylaxis. He’s bound to be the doctor President Trump was referring to in the press conference.

HCQ, not HQL.

That dosage corresponds to 5 liters of tonic water per week (ignoring the details on Hydroxychloroquine/quinine differences). If you’re drinking a liter bottle of tonic per day most days, you’re doing it right. It’s almost like the Brits knew what they were doing a century ago.
