The protocol in my first post to you is his prophylaxis recommendation.
Neither of these has been subjected to the rigorous testing one would ordinarily want, but positive results are being reported. I’m not advocating the treatment, merely pointing out what Trump’s referring to in his statement today.
Dosing studies to find ideal Covid prophylactic dose, presuming one exists, are still pending. Malaria prophylaxis dosage is 400mg weekly. RA or Lupus treatment dose is 200 - 400 mg daily. Both have been tried by some as Covid pre- or post-exposure prophylaxis with several studies pending. I've seen some results of the daily dose working prophylactically. I haven't seen any results on the weekly dose yet. The daily dose should be reasonably safe for awhile based on the RA and lupus experience. The weekly dose, IF it would work, likely has the largest safety track record of any prophylactic treatment for any disease this side of some vaccinations. It would be
nice if it turned out to work, but that's not yet proven. The daily dose, for two weeks, used as post-exposure prophylaxis for 200+ exposed residents and staff at a S Korean long term facility prevented every one from being infected. Bigger numbers would be nicer as would a control group, which could do no better, but that's good enough to treat an exposed Trump.
Besides, why are THEY whining about this. When every d*mn one of them is cheering for a rare drug reaction to kill him. Like Bruce Lee, it seems nothing else can.
