Imagine if one of the students told Professor Lux to “drop dead”. How long would that student be allowed to remain on campus? Professor Lux ought not to be too smug. He should realize that one day soon a student will tell him just that.
I would think that an educator would work with anyone on a topic of controversy. “What’s your opinion on X? Why do you think that? How would you defend Y? Can you support your statement Z?”
But today we see Professors who whine over disagreements and call people names if the people don’t lineup perfectly with the professor’s ideology.
Sad.

Let me get this straight. If Columbia has a Deputy Chair of the political science department then Columbia must also have a Chairman of the political science department. It is probably safe to assume that along with the title of Deputy Chair comes additional compensation. If so, then this is a prime example of why university tuition is so expensive. Just exactly how many profs are on the political science faculty at Columbia? Are there so freaking many that the Chairman cannot be expected to manage the staff? It is my considered opinion that at Columbia there are no more than 5 to 10 students per employee. How can this be? Gross mismanagement and empire building that is leading to the financial fleecing of the student body. And the competition for the opportunity to be fleeced is mind numbing for intelligent human beings.
Oh, and BTW, Barack Obama is an alleged alumni of the political science department of Columbia, but no one that was there when he was alleged to be there remembers ever seeing him. And Obama’s Columbia records are hidden along with his birth certificate, his records from Occidental University, his passport records, and his social security records. But his efforts to undo an election are gradually coming to light and the cockroaches are running for cover.
Wait ... isn’t name calling “straight up” aggression? As in beyond a “micro” aggression?
