BEIJING (AP) Chinas commerce ministry says it will take all necessary measures in response to new U.S. restrictions on Chinese tech giant Huaweis ability to use American technology, calling the measures an abuse of state power and a violation of market principles.
An unidentified spokesperson quoted Sunday in a statement on the ministrys website said the regulations also threatened the security of the global industrial and supply chain.
The U.S. uses state power, under the so-called excuse of national security, and abuses export control measures to continuously oppress and contain specific enterprises of other countries, the statement said.
China will take all necessary measures to resolutely safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises, it said.
Under the new rules, foreign semiconductor makers who use American technology must obtain a U.S. license to ship Huawei-designed semiconductors to the Chinese company.
Chip design and manufacturing equipment used in the worlds semiconductor plants is mostly U.S.-made, so the new rule affects foreign producers that sell to Huawei and affiliates including HiSilicon, which makes chips for supercomputers with scientific and military uses. The U.S. Commerce Department said foreign foundries would be granted a 120-day grace period for chips already in production.

Bet you didn't know that.
We are also the source of 90% of designs of complex chips.
Intel is still the leader in this realm, but they have offshored over half of production and much of the low-level design. Still, "they make the machines that make the machines".
a violation of market principles.
Oh great, now we are being lectured on capitalism
by communists!!!
China a wahwah can both take a flying leap
I found that amusing too.
Yep. Communist bureaucrats said that with a straight face.
Is it just me or does it seem we are edging to WW3?
Huawei is nothing more than a vacuum of American technology sporting a telephone company.
We have been in WW3 with China for a few years since they started sending SARS and flu to kill us all.
“The U.S. uses state power, under the so-called excuse of national security, and abuses export control measures to continuously oppress and contain specific enterprises of other countries,”
Damned right, and you will LIKE it, sonny boy, or we’ll nuke and EMP your commie ass from space. Deal.
Breathtaking. Simply breathtaking. The arrogance. The hubris.
I have nothing against the Chinese people, but I despise and detest their government. There is no evil they are not capable. of.
We’ve been in Economic war since Mao came to power and full-fledged economic hostilities since Nixon kissed Chou’s ass.
Dear Bejing,
As an American citizen and consumer, as of the first part of this year, in response to the slovenly street vendors and lavatory specialists posing as scientist cousin to the 3 stooges, I abstain parting good money for direct products from the Communist People’s Republic of China.
“a violation of market principles.

BINGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Huawei =’s backdoors...
If China does not like it, they can design and manufacture their own fabrication and design tools.
And come up with their own chip designs.
Not a problem for a “great superpower”, right? I’m sure they’ll figure it out as soon as they can produce a jet engine that runs for more than 40hrs. Even AFTER being given the detailed design, experts and manufacturing processes.
I’d sure like to hear from somebody who knows, why they cannot master the manufacturing process? Is it cultural? Is it corruption? Both?
WTH?
So they’re going to ramp up fentanyl shipments?
‘Edging’? How about full force, head on?
We are a sovereign nation. Screw the Chinese. They could all die of their virus and I could care less. Let them rot.
Perhaps I should say closer to a shooting war and despite the fact that Chine hit the world with a germ warfare weapon the rats defend them and attack our President who is working night and day to help the country cope with said attack.
Nope. China aint ready for prime time, and they know it.
