Thanks. Another excellent article. As I indicated, Trump was stampeded into taking the initial actions he took. Now that we have real data on the virus, it is time to change course.

I can say with some confidence, we will never again see such a shutdown if another pandemic appears. The cure was far worse than the disease.

Once again Cousin Mike....First, I agree with you completely.

But....but, but, but....I want to see some kind of legislation to cement that non-option.

Cause I dunno know about you, but I don’t trust the Democratic party. I believe that given the right circumstances they would shut down the economy if it benefitted them.

I want to see legislation that, I dunno, denies one person to shut down the economy, that defines who will be part of a consulting team, that requires all state legislatures to vote for such a thing.

Whatever my brilliant ideas are....THE ECONOMY SHOULD NEVER BE SHUT DOWN AGAIN!

Pritzker's behavior might mean that people like us won't vote for him, but the sort of people who voted for him in 2018 will vote for him as long as he is a Democrat. The dem base, at least in Illinois, is accustomed to having a ruling class that clearly thinks it is superior to the dem base.

Prirtzker will be governor as long as he wants to keep running, or until he is indicted, or if he steps in front of FDR and takes a bullet meant for the other guy. That last one is how Cermak Avenue in Chicago got its name.

One silver-lining is that we are decoupling from China. There is no way China can replace access to our market, the biggest and most lucrative in the world. And other countries are doing something similar as the Wuhan virus opened their eyes as to how dependent they are on China for essential items. It is a matter of national security. I would add that Japan is pulling its companies out of China.

The long term impact on China of rearranging supply chains will be devastating. It could make them more belligerent.

The Toad on MTP enlists some NBC wonk and author to explain how conspiracy theories are born & bred—without mention of any one in particular.

He then follows up with hacks discussing Obamagate and some COVID / vaccine “conspiracy theories”.

My takeaway : everything DjT does is a conspiracy.

I’ve noticed how Maria interrupts Trump. It is much nicer than Chris Wallace (who tries to censor Trump). Maria seems truly inquisitive and wants to get on to other topics she wants answers on. Trump does tend to filibuster if you let him. Made the point of today’s Doonesbury strip - I won’t try to reproduce it here because Mr. Jane Pauley (Garry Trudeau) is such a punk commie, but it does highlight how the Donald likes to go on and on (which we all love him for).
