BUTTE COUNTY (CBS13) — Public health officials are now doing a contact tracing investigation after someone tested positive for coronavirus after a Butte County church held a service on Mother’s Day.

According to Butte County Public Health, a person tested positive for COVID-19 a day after attending the Mother’s Day service.

It’s unclear exactly where that person was infected, but now the over 180 people who are believed to have attended the service may have been exposed to coronavirus.

“At this time, organizations that hold in-person services or gatherings are putting the health and safety of their congregations, the general public and out local ability to open up at great risk,” said Butte County Public Health Director Danette York in a statement.

Butte County Public Health and its partners are now trying to test all the people who attended the service.

Anyone who attended the service is being instructed by public health officials to self-quarantine.

As announced earlier this week, Butte County was among the first to meet the guidelines for loosening some of the stay-at-home order – but in-person religious gatherings remain prohibited until Stage 3 of California’s reopening plan.

The real pain is your were exposed, so you are quarentined until test results come back. Which could means over 14 days if they don’t test you on day one. Let’s say they don’t get to you until day 10, then you have to wait another 7-10 days for results. They don’t use the rapid test in contact tracing.

Do you still believe all this nonsense? Quick question, we have seen people protesting to reopen the beaches, barber shops, parks. We have seen hair dressers arrested. Where is the video of the people who REFUSE to allow their loved one to die alone and scared in a hospital? Where is the video of a patients family in cuffs? Released from jail? You cannot tell me that family’s are allowing this to happen without a fuss. Then, go to tik tok. There are over 500 video’s of nurses doing practices dance routines. Using polls to do stripping type dances, twerking against walls, pretending to carry dead bodies in one dance routine. Bragging about all the free stuff they are getting. All of us should be demanding answers, cause this stuff doesn’t pass the smell test AT ALL.

Since it is a trump strong hold we will see more fake news coming out of places like this. The left will continue their fear campaign and reasons for not opening up the country. Infecting small counties across the US is not a problem, several governors have experience in this. They deliberately infected nursing homes in their own states murdering thousands of the elderly. The word that is key is “possibly” They haven’t used “experts believe” yet

Who determines if someone over 60 should be tested? I wouldn’t be.

At this point in time the folks attending the service took responsibility on their own and knew what they were doing. Unlike government, no one forced them to go to church.

Now, will the “media” follow this story, describe the level of illness the person who tested positive obtains, and with the contact tracing who else tests positive and what level of illness they obtain, if any? Unless someone dies it’s doubtful.

This church did what they should have done. You make the point that we should impose restrictions on ourselves to prevent restrictions being imposed on ourselves. No thanks, surrender monkeys need not apply to a fee state.

Let me translate that into newspeak for us: The only way to open up is to not open up.

The stated goal was to SLOW the spread so hospitals would not be overwhelmed. Remember? The goals was never to stop the spread.

You should applaud this church. The more people exposed the better off we will be.

But if your scared, quarantine yourself. Hopefully you getting the monthly check that makes worrying at home possible.

The county did not specify which church the person attended, but Palermo Bible Family Church pastor Michael Jacobsen confirmed to the Washington Post that the incident happened at his congregation.

Are they going to test all the people that person came in contact with at Walmart?

Not easy to get it at Walmart. The positive person has to talk a lot or cough and create droplets which have to add up to enough dose in the targets. That's usually hours or days in an office situation. Parties are faster, any yelling will create droplets. The choir practice was a good example of that (singing = yelling).

Droplets on surfaces is very overrated. I think that's rare at Walmart, but might happen at nursing homes and certainly in homes among housemates. The basic spread out here in rural Virginia is among housemates, at the chicken plants, and at the nursing homes. Almost all cases can be explained by those.

Yes. It’s a matter of what we wash our hands of. If we wash them of our willingness to tolerate the continued existence of the Democrat party we can become clean, clean, clean. The corrupt rot and filth of elitist overlords must be ended.
Pelosi and Schumer are perfect symbols for the evil, un American party. Let’s finish them off this fall and begin a joyous new chapter in the life of our great nation.

sick looking disheveled guy coughing all over the place

If positive, that's probably your worst case. The other interactions including the shopping cart are very unlikely.

WalMart, Home Depot or Lowe’s, just church gatherings

Dose is higher the longer you spend with the infected. The Albany Georgia funerals were worst case because sick people went and coughed everywhere. The key to churches is stay home if you are sick, and keep it down. Don't talk if you don't have to talk. Breath through your nose.

a choral group had a choir rehearsal in a church

The best thing to do is to not sing. I realize people may go to church in part to sing. But they have to rethink that.
