You did not read carefully. He did not turn against his family in public. He cherished and defended his family in public. He is an American citizen and defended the citizenry from violators of the constitution.

he was faithful to his “family”. His family isn’t the police department. And BTW, the code in the Godfather is the code of the coward criminal, the code those who need their disgusting behaviors hidden.... not the code of the founders.

Never go against the family in public. Which founder would have uttered THAT shameful proverb?

He criticized how police in both his department and nationally are behaving, enforcing orders he considers wrong. THAT is his “family” as defined by the Godfather quote.

The code of the Godfather is the code of how capitalism and reality work. You do that and there is a price to pay. Period. He did. And he is.

The Founders knew there was a price to be paid. They understood that technically speaking they were committing an act of treason, and if they lost the war they would be killed. “We Must Hang Together Or Surely We Shall Hang Separately” is the quote of somebody who knows they’re breaking the Godfather rule even though that movie was 200 years in the future. They understood there would be ramifications. Which is all I’m saying.
