How about we get rid of it? The government has shown it can’t be trusted not to abuse the authority.

Widespread “errors”. That should read crimes. Give me a break.

"The new legislation requires the attorney general to personally sign off on surveilling government officials."

With a wingman like eric holder, what could possibly go wrong.

Voiding the 4th is not a good idea. You want to spy on an American? Go to a real court and get a court order. Abolish FISA and abolish the FBI neither can be trusted.

I’m willing to wait until after the election. Those Biden FISAs should be interesting.

Anything short of repeal is a total failure.

I am wondering if this is a preemptive action in response to something that may become public knowledge pretty soon....

Doesn’t it seem odd that all of a sudden there is a “bipartisan” effort in congress to fix FISA?

Why? The democrats and the media continue to tell us nothing was wrong with FISA.

What is their real motive?

I would guess, with high certainty, that there is no criminal or civil liabilities for violators in the bill ... kill the bill and FISC.

Repeal it. Any system that allows lying to the courts to go undetected and unpunished for years can not be reformed.

In today’s American politics, bipartisan is just as bad as partisan.

This bill should be defeated.

Several people, 15-20 need to go to prison before any reform is even considered.

So the problem was with the FISA rules, not the people in charge? Oh.

The big change will be the FISA Judge asking if the person really thinks that a Judge would believe the submitted request.

Judge "Really?"

FBI Agent "Yes your honor".

Judge "MMMMMM......Ok!'

It cannot be salvaged.

It’s too much power for any government, no matter how constructed, to resist.

Eliminate FISA and all elements of the old Patriot Act.

It’s the only solution.

It’s worse, in every case.

Unless this bill abolishes the unconstitutional abomination, I’m not interested.
