Patients in New York hospitals must now test negative for the coronavirus before they can be discharged to nursing homes, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Sunday — partially reversing a policy that forced sickened seniors into facilities housing those most vulnerable.
“We’re just not going to send a person who is positive to a nursing home after a hospital visit,” said Cuomo during an Albany press briefing. “Period.”
The ruling partially overrides a controversial March 25 order that nursing homes cannot deny admission or readmission on the basis of a positive or suspected COVID-19 case.

Cuomo Is either very evil or very stupid. Since I try to see the best in people, I’m going with “very stupid” for now. But I reserve the right to change my opinion once more information comes in.
What if they are elderly and have no one to care for them EXCEPT a nursing home. What do they do with them, then?
As a matter of fact, maybe they HAVE NO HOME. What then?

He's unfit for office, should be removed from office, then tried for his criminal negligence.
There was a dilemma initially. Everyone was concerned that the hospitals would be overrun. So when a musing home patient was hospitalized for COVID and was stable for discharge the hospitals wanted them out both to free up beds and to reduce hospital contagion. When nursing homes wisely declined their return, the hospitals insisted that by law they needed to be taken back. I’m betting they leaned on Cuomo to help them enforce the nursing home return. I think the real problem here is that no one considered the possibility of a third option for discharged COVID patients. For that, there is no excuse.

Cuomo's going to have to dump this latest 'solution' too. He should ask one nursing home be designated COVID Recovery Center and move patients there when they're not sick enough to be in the hospital but too dangerous to go back to their nursing home. One 'home' only has COVID patients... that 'hospital in Central Park' would have been perfect... plenty of fresh air and all...
