This video was posted on the twitter account of Ahmaud Arbery's attorney, Lee Merritt. It shows Arbery stopping in front of the home. He then looks around and walks into the home, which is under construction. He walks out of the home and into the garage. He is in the house for at least 60 to 90 seconds. He then BOLTS out the front entrance of the house like Jesse Owens.
In your scenario, it would be wrong for a CIVILIAN to use force to restrain a person whom they did not see commit a crime. Why don't you people understand the differences between what civilians can do and what cops can do???
In your scenario, the person could absolutely pursue the suspect and tell the 911 operator the location of the suspect until police arrive. But any decent defense lawyer would have a field day if a civilian did not actually see the crime and used force to restrain a suspect.
What force did McMichael use to restrain him?
Stop inventing facts to create a narrative that suits your desires.
You stated as fact something proven wrong.
Depends on the state. Here in PA we have the 'castle doctrine' which means, that I have the same 'at home protection rights' no matter where I am.
If my neighbor's house is being robbed, and I am walking my dawg {which I do twice a day, and always armed}, and I see the perp running from the house and I confront and then shoot him dead, {because I fear for my own life} then I say to the police, "I feared for my life, and I want my lawyer".
In PA, I win, in GA I don't know what the law is.
Any non-felon in PA can open carry, and any non-felon in PA can get a concealed permit with almost no hassle and only a $20 fee {good for 5 years}.
Great state for patriots regarding the 2nd Amendment.
This is the problem when laymen try and give a legal opinion.
You don’t understand the particulars of the law.
In every state I’m aware of, a claim of self defense can NOT be made if a person is in the process of an illegal act.
If he was burglarizing a home, he can’t defend himself from being detained.
I had a similar experience in oxford Mississippi 1978
I didnt kill the black robber either
But I convinced him I might
Model 28 six inch barrel in his face
He stayed put
Um, displaying a firearm is force. My God you people truly have no idea what you’re doing.
“On of your cases”?
You practiced law and you stated something in contravention of legal principle. You don’t sound like a good lawyer.
Yes he was a future Peace Corps worker I heard
This incident was passed on in a 60% BLACK TOWN
by a female democrat district attorney four months ago
There had been many break ins in the neighborhood
He grabbed the shotgun
And so on
Look, before I crack open my law book concerning Georgia’s statures on use of force, I want to know why I should even bother doing such when I am sure you won’t understand it?
You're assuming facts not in evidence. I never, ever once said I am a lawyer. You do know that individuals other than lawyers have cases, right?
Oh, so you tried to imply expertise in a field when clearly you don’t.
So the issue is you lack basic ethics.
You’re unqualified to give legal opinion and you’re telling qualified folks they’re wrong.
That seems to indicate to me you’re of below average intellect.
If I jogged, I'd carry a hammer.
Oh, because someone says they’ve been a ADA for 27 years I’m supposed to believe them when at the same time that individual claims Arbery was committing burglary when at most he was committing trespass? I’m supposed to believe that guy? Yeah, ok. Look, when these fat clown are convicted of felony murder (that’s what they are charged with) I have no problem coming back here and laughing at all of your shitty takes on this. Until then, keep it.
+1
The narrative has already been set, They are not entertaining other optics at this time
I’m sure those grainy, pixelated screen captures will be key in the trial.
Malice aforethought.
You clearly don’t know what that means.
And thanks for answering my question in a passive way.
It would be absolutely a waste of time to open my books on Georgia’s homicide statutes to discuss them with you.
Mr. DA, you know perfectly well that the McMichaels had no legal justification to brandish weapons in the first place.
The pics would only be a trivial piece of evidence.
The cops on scene would testify what they retrieved and what footwear he was wearing. The coroner would testify what footwear was removed. The contractor would testify as to the status of the house that was being constructed and what tools he had.
What the pic does is gives the public a sense of the facts of the case that would be presented.
