Researchers have discovered a strong correlation between vitamin D deficiency and mortality rates from the novel coronavirus, a new study reveals.
A research team led by Northwestern University analyzed data from hospitals and clinics across China, France, Germany, Italy, Iran, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States.
Patients from countries with high COVID-19 mortality rates, such as Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom, had lower levels of vitamin D compared to patients in countries that were not as severely affected, according to the study.

Hmmm...media seems to be running three or four days behind FR.
I started telling family and friends about the importance of vitamin D two months ago.
How about 14 years.
Lots of Vit D deficiencies out there now - especially among children. I am sure the use of sun screen will figure into this - so many parents won’t let a drop of sun touch their kids. I never used the stuff on mine.
The VA proscribed “D” for me years ago. Too old for sunshine.
Vitamin D deficiency often happens when people are inside and in cloudy conditions outside.
As the theory that warm weather and fresh air will lower the virus peaks.
And maybe the ones on surfboards and training for running marathons are not usually obese-—and obesity is a big factor in worse outcomes of the victims.
Sunshine!! I still drink whole milk at age 76, try to get out in the sun every day...when we have sun and have a well rounded diet.
I remember reading that post way back when. It’s why I started taking Vitamin D.
I break out if I get too much exposure. Been on D for several months.
Me too. Right after I started taking K2 (MK7 Menaquinone) with Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol) supplement each day.
I read the studies on this and the data goes WAY back as to the efficacy of this combination.
Put how can a person get Vitamin D without supplements?????
Some people have a fast reaction to the suns rays. I can burn in less than 15 minutes. So I use a sunscreen but very low range to filter the rays to an acceptable level.
I’ve been taking 5,000 IU of D3 and 50mg of K2 near daily since late March.
Probably outdoors exposure as much as anything. There is a video or two on youtube by a Dr. John Campbell in Britain who I believe discusses this.
Soon they will announce that washing your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds can be effective /s
This isolated masked germ free lifestyle is deadly. It prevents our immune systems from building and strengthening by exposure to microbes, bacterias and bugs. Our weakened defenses will be challenged by deadlier diseases and lose.
” I started taking K2 (MK7 Menaquinone) with Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol) supplement each day”
Me too and a calcium supplement (Ca Citrate) if you are old
I started my wife and I on D3 and zinc in March. Were both laid off, so weve spent most of our time working in our yard. Sunshine is indeed a great disinfectant.
