Afghan Taliban insurgents killed 17 civilians and wounded 49 during the first week of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, further chipping away at their pledge to reduce violence following a peace deal with the U.S.
The fatalities occurred from April 24, Javid Faisal, a spokesman for the National Security Council of Afghanistan, said on Twitter. Most of the casualties were caused by roadside bombs and direct fire, he added.
The peace agreement signed in February was meant to pave the way for the withdrawal of U.S. and NATO forces from Afghanistan within 14 months. But while attacks on the U.S.-led coalition have ceased, the Taliban almost immediately began mounting assaults on Afghan rural areas.
Separate data from the National Security Council show that 337 civilians have been killed, 452 wounded and 164 abducted in the two months since the signing. “Taliban have failed to live up to their commitment to remain peaceful. They increased their campaign of terror immediately and harmed 100s of Afghan men, women and children,” Faisal tweeted….
The government has so far released 650 militants, most recently on Saturday. The Taliban freed 112 Afghan soldiers and policemen as of May 1. The U.S. has criticized the slow process and warned it could cause more losses.
“Both the Taliban and the government need to accelerate efforts to release prisoners and lower violence, which is the fastest means to intra-Afghan negotiations and a comprehensive permanent ceasefire,” the U.S. special envoy for Afghan reconciliation, Zalmay Khalilzad, said on Twitter on Saturday.
Confirming conclusively for anyone with a brain that Islam is NOT a religion of peace.

But 18th and 19th secularists in Europe and America downplayed an ocean of Muslim misdeeds in a effort to make an equivalence to Christianity, to suppress Christianity in the West.
And then their heirs, not just in the USSR, sought to craft nitwits so profoundly misguided by means of cultural Marxism that they could not sustain a civilization ... and between these two satanic efforts people have been deluded to believe Islam can by such a thing as a religion of peace.
This delusion probably cannot be understood apart from recognizing God’s wrath. Too far? Well, Romans 1:18-32 says what to expect when people refuse to retain the knowledge of the Lord and we are seeing something like that everywhere.
When a proverbial canary dies in a coal mine it’s a warning to miners to flee. If you are still awake: flee! Escape the company of those who are on the broad, straight road. But those who are already unconscious within the delusion can’t take notice of the canary dying, save by the grace of God. So pray for those on that road even at you flee their influence.

The Tribulation and Great Tribulation represent the a Lord turning up the volume to 10 because people will have become so spiritually hard of hearing that’s what it may take to get through to them. This may sound harsh but that’s possibly just the way it is.
NOTHING stops the murder season!
Well, that didn’t take long. I think fasting makes them cranky.
And to think that in 1990 or ‘91, some ordinance guys on a carrier got rebuked (at least) for chalking “Happy Ramadan” on bombs getting loaded onto attack aircraft.
I remember the pastor of my grandmother’s Baptist church in Oak Cliff of Dallas bringing down the fire and brimstone in sermons against my other grandmother’s Methodist church. There was lots of argument about the virtues of full bore dunking baptisms versus sprinkling, of course-—but I don’t recall anyone of the two congregations killing anyone.
Plenty of fiery competition in the softball leagues though.
Unexpected. Usually they’re so nice during ramdan.
