John Ratcliffe, R-Texas, testifies before a Senate Intelligence Committee nomination hearing on Capitol Hill on May 5, 2020.Andrew Harnik / Pool via Getty Images May 5, 2020, 8:25 PM CDT By Frank Figliuzzi, former FBI assistant director for counterintelligence and NBC News/MSNBC analyst Since U.S. intelligence agencies exist to seek actionable information that is as close to the truth as possible, it follows that the person who heads our intelligence community should be a scrupulously honest seeker of apolitical facts. Rep. John Ratcliffe, R-Texas, President Donald Trumps nominee to be the next director of national intelligence, isnt that guy. The Senate will take up Ratcliffes nomination this week, with him testifying before the intelligence committee on Tuesday.
While many questions about Ratcliffes credentials already exist he was previously nominated only to withdraw over questions about his bio of serious ongoing concern is his social media history. Recent reporting by Spencer Ackerman and Will Sommer at The Daily Beast ties Ratcliffe, at least tangentially, to dangerous conspiracy theories on Twitter.

Yes, meanwhile, if you’re US senator, insider trading is allowed...
That was my initial thought as well.
Trump can choose for DNI anyone he wants.
If he can get the Senate to agree.
Oh, and anyone who follows “Q” is crazy.
If, in fact, he’s a Q follower.
Well, NBC News, why don;t you get one of your intrepid reporters to ask Trump if the whole Q thing is legitimate or a farce.
If only they had a shred of credibility remaining.
Lefty opinions are of little value.
How many Marxists in Obama’s administration?
How many years were Bill Ayers and Jeremiah Wright mentoring Barack Obama?
FUNBC
I once read some articles on abovetopsecret. Would I be disqualified?
Honestly, I don’t think I would want to be qualified by beltway standards though.
Heck Obama put admitted Communists in charge of the FBI and CIA!
Funny! NBC thinks what they do is news, thats disqualifying.
There are people who follow Trump’s page but only to savage his tweets. Follow does not imply endorsement
Marxism is a religion.
Prove me wrong.
As opposed to the oh so healthy ideas of the Communist Green New Deal, Islam, Marxism, homofascism...
Is Q ueer? Is NBC(D) homophobic?
>>Q doesnt post on twitter. Others may carry his crumbs there, but Q doesnt. Therefore someone is lying...again.
Low information voters hear it on the alphabet outlets and will tweet/Face it as fact.
“tangentially”
Some staffer getting clicks.
No one with a brain believes the failed QAnon scammers.
The media seems to think that the DNI should have no interest in people involved in “dangerous conspiracies”.
What?
Oh, look at the paragons of unbiased journalism!!!
How dare the director of national intelligence follow the website that is followed by millions of people. It would be much better if he had blinders on and didnt know what was being said. LOL
Whether or not QAnon is accurate is irrelevant. A DNI should be aware of both the information and the misinformation circulating in our country and overseas.
“Some accounts get followed purely for entertainment purposes.”
Exactly, and clicks for the boss. Staffers are paid for doing that.
