He can follow whoever he wants. Following someone on Twitter doesn't mean you agree with them on anything.
For example, millions of people may follow Robert Deniro because they like his movies, yet Deniro is as crazy as a coot when it comes to his politics.
Following someone could merely mean you can get notified of what they post.
