WASHINGTON - The secretary of the Senate has declined Joe Bidens request to release any potential documents pertaining to an allegation of sexual assault against him from a former Senate staffer, citing confidentiality requirements under the law.
Biden made the request Friday after delivering his first public comments responding to the allegation from former staffer Tara Reade that he sexually assaulted her in the basement of a Capitol Hill office building in the spring of 1993. Biden has denied the allegation.
In response, the secretary of the Senate told Bidens legal counsel in an email that after reviewing the Government Employee Rights Act of 1991 and a Senate resolution regarding the release of Senate records, based on the laws strict confidentiality requirements, the Senate legal counsel has advised the Secretary has no discretion to disclose any such information.

Secretary of the Senate — another co-equal branch of government?
Unless she answers to Fauxi’s branch of government.
KABUKI Theater! Biden KNEW this would be outcome.
Then the issue will hang over Bidet forever, like Slick Willy.
The Senate Secretary once worked for the FBI(no accountability allowed)
Yes. Pure fakery.
Biden was in the US Senate for what, 40 years (before he was even 30) and he didn't know the Senate rules?
Give me a break.

BINGO! No doubt about it.
“Now of, course, I’ll need to request this release... but of course, you can say No (wink wink).”
Naturally. Biden pretends hes wants it released. And the Senate pretends it cant release it. How convenient.
Under what authority. I thought Mitch was in charge. I know, I laughed too.
Can’t Reade give the OK for the records to be released? It’s her personnel file.
Legally, the Senate can’t release a confidential complaint to the (alleged) offender, i.e., Biden. Biden knew that before asking.
The person who filed the complaint can authorize releasing it. Team Biden will next start questioning why Tara Reade hasn’t requested the release. (The unfortunate answer might be that she didn’t get into the sexual assault in the Senate complaint — just the climate of sexual harassment Biden created. I don’t now if that will turn out to be true, or if is just something the media has floated to diminish the victim.)
Maybe he knew that would be the response, else I doubt he would have made the request. Mitch could maybe order the secretary to honer his good friends request, any odds that he might do that?
Not Hardly

accurate? seems easy enough for a motivated reporter to follow.
if true, reade should already be aware of this. if so then she is in effect dragging biden behind her on a chain down a long road in public view. fun!
i hope reade was smart enough to squirrel away a copy of the complaint so she could “find” the copy after an appropriate, well-timed delay.
the democratic convention is scheduled for aug. 17-20. what is the effect of biden cratering before the convention, versus after the convention?
before the convention, i would imagine that the second largest number of delegates should win. that would be bernie. bernie versus trump? after the convention, i imagine it would be hillary redux on an impromptu substitution. hillary versus trump, the rematch?
‘Cant Reade give the OK for the records to be released?’
I was wondering about that as well...
‘hillary versus trump, the rematch?’
Hilary Clinton will not be the nominee...
