Missouri Governor Mike Parson has given the okay for concerts to begin again in the state as early as Monday.
On April 27, Governor Parson released his Show Me Strong recovery plan that details plans for gradually reopening the state's economy starting May 4. The plan allows for retail stores to serve customers in-store at limited capacities and for restaurants to re-establish dine-in services while remaining socially distanced.
A first for the country since governments started instating lockdown orders, Missouri will allow residents to attend live events, including concerts. According to the Show Me Strong guidelines, large events and gatherings are no longer banned, but in order to go to a concert, movie theater or stadium "seating shall be spaced out according to social distancing requirements."
A representative from Missouri's Department of Health and Senior Services clarified for Billboard that concerts do not have to adhere to the same occupancy limitations as retail businesses, but event organizers are expected to keep concertgoers six feet or more apart to limit the spread of the novel coronavirus.
"There are currently no limitations on social gatherings as long as necessary precautions are taken and six feet of distance can be maintained between individuals and/or families," the Show Me Strong recovery plan reads.
Missouri's larger cities and live music hubs such as St. Louis, Springfield and Kansas City will not see concerts or large gatherings return next week. Local officials from Missouri's major cities, including St. Louis Mayor Lyda Krewson, plan to keep the city's Stay Home order in effect until further notice.

Open air concerts with everyone using "social distancing" is bizarre and I cant see anyone making a lot of money and I cant see anyone HAVING a lot of money when a third have been laid off or had to close businesses. Free concerts in the park with everyone 6 feet apart?
This whole 6 feet apart thing is ridiculous. You walk into a gas station and stand 6 feet behind someone. Then after a few minutes you occupy the same space that person just breathed in or touched, or clothing touched, etc., etc. It makes no sense. I was in a gas station the other day and a guy started coughing and hacking and he was 6 feet away from everyone. Now tell me that his droplets are going to be contained in a 6 foot area? Yeah right. Nonsense. Unless you're wearing a hazmat suit, it's not gonna do diddly squat. end rant.
Don’t throw yourself into a mosh pit where the dancers are six feet apart.
All the people with the “Safe at Home” profile pictures are free to stay home as long as they want. I hate the commercials with a passion. Every one has what I call the “motherly lullaby” voice “Please, stay home, stay safe, wear a mask, for all of us. Thank you” while showing a nurse, police officer, cashier, etc.
What about churches in Missouri? Asking because I know a pastor there.
And what about the one-way aisles in stores? Someone ahead of you coughs, then you have to walk through that??? Insanity is running amok, but they call what they are doing “science.”
Most politicians did not pass ninth grade biology.
And boy, does it show.
Yeah i was in the store earlier and a guy with a mask on comes right up the wrong way of the isle and passes me. I just shook my head. Had to be a Democrat was the first thought i had.
# actually attributable to China Virus? Probably 1/2.
“God has not given us a spirit of fear . . . .”
If you’re afraid, stay home.
I wore a mask till noon two days this week and I was happy about it. The mask was camo and it was turkey season, 24 pound gobbler in the freezer and the second one is coming soon.
