Former Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley sent a letter to Attorney General Bill Barr this week asking for transparency and sunlight regarding General Michael Flynn's case. Flynn's attorneys have accused the government, specifically the FBI, of engaging in prosecutorial misconduct against him.
"This is no ordinary criminal case. One of the agents who interviewed Lt. Gen. Flynn, Peter Strzok, was later removed from the Russia investigation after his texts demonstrating animus and bias toward the President were discovered. Additionally, former Director McCabe was fired for lack of candor regarding a leak to the Wall Street Journal, and Lt. Gen. Flynn was an adverse witness in a pending sexual discrimination case against Mr. McCabe at the time Mr. McCabe was supervising an inquiry targeting Lt. Gen. Flynn," Grassley wrote. "Further, the Flynn case was at the center of a political firestorm over the Presidents alleged statements about it to Director Comey. Moreover, Flynn himself 'had told both White House Counsel and the Chief of Staff at least twice that the FBI agents had told him he would not be charged,' which is consistent with what Director Comey told me and my staff. The FBIs conduct is ripe for congressional oversight."
The FBI agents who brought the case against Flynn for allegedly lying to investigators have since been fired for rampant misconduct and abuse of power.
"After years of rampant speculation and publicly reported inconsistencies regarding how the FBI handled the case, its time for the public to know the full set of facts relating to Lt. Gen. Flynn, including any and all government misconduct. In light of the extraordinary public and congressional interest in this case, I request that you work with Flynns attorneys to unseal these new records provided to them so that the public can access the material," he continued. "In the alternative, I request that you amend the protective order so that Congress can review the information in light of its constitutional oversight prerogatives."
Flynn's top attorney, Sidney Powell, said earlier this week DOJ is working to release the documents. She has repeatedly argued the case against Flynn was a set up, that he was coerced into a guilty plea and that his situation presents a clear double standard of justice.

Barr should have done this months ago. I am beginning to distrust Barr. He is talk talk talk but have not seen any indictments.
I’m cynical but tend to think the big legal explosions are being held back for optimum impact on the November elections...
Barr is the deep state.
Its called a subpoena, Chuck.
Issue one.
Today.

Wondering when “SOON” is? I would hope all these DS Players are already arrested. I think appearances are faked. If Barr leaves these peopke on the street after 4 years, it too late.
I believe we’ll know very soon whether AG Barr and Durham have done their jobs, one way or the other.
A subpoena still wouldnt let him disclose information marked classified.
My understanding is that exculpatory documents were requested by Sidney Powell from Flynn’s former attorneys, and some were delivered. Events in the case indicated conversations of witnesses that were in the turned over materials from former attorneys. The next step was taken, a demand for the missing documents under threat of monetary sanctions, with an explanation of why they were missed the first time. This explanation is missing from the case. The licenses of the attorneys withholding the evidence should have been suspended pending investigation of the case for failing to provide the explanation.
This is creating a basis for the fallout of prosecution attorneys failing to provide exculpatory evidence they hold against Flynn. This empowers Flynn’s defense to seek terminating sanctions with monetary awards, and the licenses of the prosecuting attorneys (emails showing the planning of the Russia Collusion Hoax).
It would let him get it.

Trump is the Chief Executive Officer of the Department of Justice.
He could post the entire Flynn case file on the White House website this afternoon.
Unfortunately, Trump will never do that.
Unseal the case documents?
Yeah Right. Good luck with that.
Was reading yesterday how it took a COURT ORDER to demand Flynn’s pervious attorneys release their case documents.
Let that sink in a minute.
His own damn lawyers (previously) wont release helpful info regarding the good General.
What the AF?
Well, it helps to know that Eric Holder is a partner in that firm. So there’s that.
That’s my understanding on it too.
Sidney Powell is no dummy and in my view things are about to get interesting.

Yep, judge Sullivan doesn’t sound happy about those “lost” docs.
Re: The licenses of the attorneys withholding the evidence should have been suspended pending investigation of the case for failing to provide the explanation.
There is a key legal problem.
When you plead guilty to a federal crime - which Flynn did - you also agree to waive your right to seek additional evidence from the prosecution in the future.
Flynn swore under oath that he violated federal statutes.
There could actually be perjury issues raised against Flynn if he now pursues criminal or civil complaints against the prosecution.
DO IT!!! UNFAIR!! INHUMANE!
Perjury issues go right out the window when evidence is found that Flynn’s former law firm framed Flynn, threatened him and his son, and tried to coerce Flynn into revealing “dirt” about Trump.
No wonder Eric Holder et al are withholding docs.
