Washington (AFP) - US President Donald Trump suggested he may seek damages from China over the coronavirus pandemic which began in the Chinese city of Wuhan and spread around the world, prompting a furious response from Beijing on Tuesday.
"We are not happy with China," Trump said at a White House briefing Monday. "We are not happy with that whole situation because we believe it could have been stopped at the source.
In Beijing, a foreign ministry spokesman on Tuesday accused US politicians of "telling barefaced lies", without naming Trump specifically, and of ignoring their "own serious problems".
"American politicians have repeatedly ignored the truth and have been telling barefaced lies," Geng Shuang told reporters at a regular press briefing.
"They have only one objective: shirk their responsibility for their own poor epidemic prevention and control measures, and divert public attention."
Geng said US politicians should "reflect on their own problems and find ways to contain the outbreak as quickly as possible."

It was so power hungry Dumborats could use their last Hail Mary to try and crash the economy and influence the 2020 election outcome to prevent a potential Trump landslide. Biden should have no chance. The Dems KNOW Biden is not a good enough candidate to beat Trump. Or at least one would hope. So they decided to crash our economy to hurt Trump’s chances.
The Dems have made their intentions known for some time now. The masks have slipped and they are desperate to hang onto power. They deserve to be tried for treason for what they did.

Trump is just talking - as are they. We’ll be getting huge damages by simply monetizing our debt, which is what we’re doing by passing out all this free money to people who are not china. Everyone will have to pay it back in higher prices, but that will include china. :)

The Chinese learned from WW2. They have kept their Pearl Harbor below the massive retaliation threshhold, and have even managed to turn Americans against one another, instead of against Communist China.
We are playing "GO" against grand masters, and we don't even understand the game.
For example, they are, via infrastructure projects, establishing beachheads on every continent. Every project comes with its own major Chinese work force, including clandestine special operators and intel agents. I have sworn off Harbor Freight for starters. Some of their stuff is quite good; some is pure junk (their $40.00 electric chain saw comes to mind - ECCH!). But now, it’ll stay on the shelf while I look for American-made tools and equipment.
It will be impossible to avoid buying stuff that doesn't at least have some Chinese made parts, but we must make the effort to the best of our ability, even if it means doing without stuff we don't need.
