Nevadas Osteopaths filed a lawsuit Tuesday asking Gov. Steve Sisolak and other state officials to lift a ban on the routine prescribing of two anti-malarial drugs to treat COVID-19.
The practice of medicine is a right, and theyve taken that away, and theyve given it to the pharmacy board and the governor, said Reno attorney Joey Gilbert, who filed the suit. A doctor is in the best position to make that judgment call when a person is in that critical stage of care.
The March 24 regulation involves chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine, drugs long in use to treat malaria, lupus and rheumatoid arthritis that are now undergoing clinical trials for COVID-19 treatment. The drugs have been touted by President Donald Trump, despite potential health risks and inconclusive evidence that they are effective against the new coronavirus.
Sisolaks regulation prohibited prescribing the drugs for patients with COVID-19 outside of a hospital setting. Doctors were allowed to continue to prescribe them to hospitalized COVID-19 patients at their discretion. The governor signed it at the urging of the state Board of Pharmacy because of reports that the drugs were being hoarded.
The 63-page complaint was filed against Sisolak, Nevada, the pharmacy board and the states chief medical officer, Dr. Ihsan Azzam. It states that the practice of medicine in Nevada is not limited to the hospital setting it occurs no matter where the physician meets the patient.
The suit says that a primary care physician may be the one able to most accurately recognize an immediate and significant decline in a patients health and suggest therapeutic intervention when it is needed most.
And with COVID-19, if the therapeutic window is missed, there is likely no second chance.

Right to choose
All that needs to be done is to warn anyone gambling in Nevada, that if they get the virus, you will die there because the Govenor does not want tourists to have the best life saving treatment of hydroxychloquine and zinc....they only want your money! He changes his mind in a few hours!
Every governor keeping this drug from covid-19 patients should be sued. And they should be charged with manslaughter as well.
Nevada citizens need to start suing the state for interfering with their doctor-patient relationship if their doctor is prevented from treating them in the way she or he feels best.
My body, My choice. Or does that not count in CoronaVille?
To stop the return of manufacturing of products back to the US that went to China. China backers here who’s family members are making millions from China through their political connections will be hit hard are also claiming that Trumps alleged stock ownership in a quinine pills maker claim its a controlling interest in a product to be totally ineffective and when used requires a severe restriction of movement when near a possible carrier known as a shutdown because of its rapid transmission .
Charge the nutcase governor with practicing medicine without a license. That should make the shit hit the fan and send all his toadies running for the hills.
Any judgment against the governor’s hordes could mean the loss of their medical licenses/rights to practice.
LUV IT!
How does a fn politician get in between a doctor and a patient?
