WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump’s erratic handling of the coronavirus outbreak, the worsening economy and a cascade of ominous public and private polling have Republicans increasingly nervous that they are at risk of losing the presidency and the Senate if Trump does not put the nation on a radically improved course.
The scale of the GOP’s challenge has crystallized in the last week. With 26 million Americans now having filed for unemployment benefits, Trump’s standing in states that he carried in 2016 looks increasingly wobbly: New surveys show him trailing significantly in battleground states like Michigan and Pennsylvania, and he is even narrowly behind in must-win Florida.
Democrats raised substantially more money than Republicans did in the first quarter in the most pivotal congressional races, according to recent campaign finance reports. And while Trump is well ahead in money compared with the presumptive Democratic nominee, Joe Biden, Democratic donors are only beginning to focus on the general election, and several super political action committees plan to spend heavily on behalf of him and the party.
Perhaps most significantly, Trump’s single best advantage as an incumbent — his access to the bully pulpit — has effectively become a platform for self-sabotage.

Polls at this stage are meaningless. If they’re thinking Biden, especially, who will have a tough time maneuvering around the ‘93 harrassment charge.....for which there is all kinds of solid evidence.
They overreached with Kavanaugh and will have it thrown in their faces. Media will have to decide who to bury; Biden or themselves.
DjT made a couple of missteps this week; dumping on Kemp, and admitting he was joking about injecting Lysol.
In fact, misting disinfectants into lungs IS tested, and UV light IS inserted into lungs....sometimes very effectively. And HCQ / zinc of course which continues to be shown effective, especially in new cases. And explain testing does nothing but show us how mild WuFlu is, and what a good job we’ve done toward reaching herd immunity.
Spell all this out in a press conference, or speech to the nation.

i was on a private conference call two days ago with Mitch McConnell and Cory Gardner, and i can tell you that Mitch is fully on board with several major positions of President Trump, namely Mitch was ADAMANT that the Feds would NOT bail out the state budgets and that it was imperative that private industry remove strategic manufacturing from communist china to friendly countries or the USA itself ...

Trump's travel ban--which, indisputably, he alone advocated--bought us time to mobilize and respond. He was savaged by the press and the left but he was 100% right and, no doubt, saved thousands of American lives.
These reporters know better than we do what the feds did during Feb with all the conference calls & round tables with biotech, hospitality, travel and various other industries to look at what resources could be brought online to deal with ventilator and PPE shortages to keep ahead of need--WHICH WAS SUCCESSFUL and what economic impacts would exist to look ahead to coming out of the shelter-in-place mitigation strategies.
These reporters can't even tell the truth about testing. Yes there was a problem with one reagent but why didn't we use the outside tests? Quality. Look at what other nations who relied on those tests have discovered. Look at the defects in PPE from China that Europe is discovering. Same with ventilators. There's thousands of unusable ventilators which is why Trump has continued to push production here so American can help not only itself going forward but do what America does best: help the rest of the world.
On testing, Trump made sure it was possible in a regulatory fashion for our private industry to develop their own tests which gave us the Abbott point of care test in record time and other test types so we could scale, so we could make use of the lab capacity in our country. We might not have all we need for Phase 2, yet, but the taskforce has said states have all that's required for Phase 1 reopening.
American First has always been the best course for the world over. A strong and generous America is not isolationist. Far from it, it's an American prepared to weather any storm. Globalism has gutted the critical capacity of so many countries. France's primary mask facility recently closed because they outsourced, now they're scrambling.
We are very lucky Trump won and not Hillary.
Don’t know the future. Trump is not guaranteed re-election but he never was. I don’t think anything had changed whatsoever. Repubs will support him in massive numbers and Dems will oppose him in massive numbers. Soccer moms will decide based on how they feel the last week of before they vote so just wait and see. It’s not as if it’s all roses and sunshine for Sleepy. The media just doesn’t want to cove any negative news as it relates to him.
As a Georgia resident, Trump was right to dump on Kemp.
Why?
The only question will be Does Trump get all 50 States. It’s a high bar but if anyone can he can.
