The driver of a single-car crash in Lincoln Park, New Jersey, is "believed" to have passed out behind the wheel after wearing an N-95 mask for too long, police said.

Lincoln Park Police Department responded to an accident on Thursday where a vehicle careened, front bumper first, into a wooden pole. After the officers cleared the scene where the driver was the only occupant of the car, they posted photographs of the crash on their Facebook page with a caption that created an "overwhelming response."

"The crash is believed to have resulted from the driver wearing an N95 mask for several hours and subsequently passing out behind the wheel due to insufficient oxygen intake/excessive carbon dioxide intake," the post read in part.

I have seen only one person walking all by them selves wearing a mask, and that was weeks ago (rural Oregon). I saw one guy sitting alone in his pickup truck wearing a mask. I blame the ignorance on our political, psychotic government disinformation communication.

I have worn all kinds of breathing apparatus, including dust masks, hard hat dive, light gear dive, fire fighting gear, gas masks and full gas suits (my favorite). I don’t feel a bit embarrassed about wearing an N95 in public when appropriate.

It’s now considered socially acceptable to wear a mask when going into a grocery store.

Maybe someone got a new thesaurus for Christmas. In the photo it just looks like he ran off the road and hit a telephone pole.

Then how come we don’t have hundreds of dead surgeons on the floors of operating rooms?

I had a pack from my sanding project from last year. I wore one to the grocery store last month and it was miserable.

When the gun is drawn do people ‘get the message’?

Clear the jail of criminals so they don’t get ‘sick’ (ACTUALLY for room for the scofflaws when they don’t ‘buckle under’.)

After clear jails, ORDER all to wear masks...

Damon Runyon couldn’t pen a better script.

“It’s now considered socially acceptable to wear a mask when going into a grocery store.”

I only hit one grocery store. Three weeks ago one out of twenty customers wore a mask and no cashiers. These days you cannot enter without a mask on. And there is Plexiglas between you and the cashier. PLUS two workers outside the store wiping down the handle of your grocery cart.

I don’t mind all of this BUT we have to open up a lot more businesses. Like the bridal store that lost in court the other day to reopen. Certainly customer traffic can be manged in a bridal store. But the so called authorities don’t care because they are getting their gov’t paychecks. PAID for by the bridal store’s taxes.

Darwin. If you are alone driving your car wearing a mask you are an idiot.

In my town in NY, I have only seen a few wearing masks in cars. Up until the recent edict, less than half wore masks at all. Now they put them on as the walk from their cars to the store and remove them after they exited the store. The minute the edict is lifted, masks will be rarely warn.

Or the bank, or a liquor store, or even the post office.

Being a retired Horticulturalist, I have no idea. I have COPD, so maybe that has something to do with my inability to get a solid breathing/exhaling routine. They also wear a very different surgical mask:

If they are open we’re allowed to GO!

The mask wearing in the grocery stores makes the checkout person friendlier.

Working on my boat I have turned my N95 brown with fine mahogany sawdust. I can wash it out but it’s harder to breath through. I will try some Sport Wash today, which is made to rejuvenate synthetics and leave no residue.

Just blow it out from the inside with an air gun.

Law of unintended consequences.

Mask wearing can lead to apoxyia.

Apoxyia can lead the syncopal episodes.

Guess what: The WU-FLU is not the ONLY threat.

I learned something about the N95 masks. I had washed one and tried accelerating the dry time by using my hot air gun.

Inside the mask there is a very fine, not visible mesh, which gives the mask it’s 95 rating. The instant the hot air hit it, it melted away like hitting it with a torch.

The outer layer is a labyrinth of fibers that hold the larger (still very fine) particles, they really don’t reverse blow out well.
