Why Trump Switched Course And Attacked Gov. Kemp For Reopening
Forbes ^ | April 23 2020 | Jack Brewster

Trump has pushed governors to reopen their states as fast as possible, and earlier this week, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp followed suit, permitting businesses such as gyms, barber shops and tattoo parlors to resume business on Friday.

But the president turned on the governor at a White House briefing on Wednesday saying, “I want him to do what he thinks is right, but I disagree with him on what he is doing — I think it’s too soon.”

The rebuke came after Dr. Anthony Fauci told other officials on the White House coronavirus task force he could not defend the governor’s decision publicly, leading Dr. Deborah Birx to pressure the president to disavow Kemp’s order, according to CNN.

In recent weeks, Trump has also faced conflicting advice about when to push for reopening the country with some allies of the president, such as Sen. Lindsey Graham, urging caution while other Republican lawmakers and Fox News talk show hosts press him to be more aggressive.

Quite simple actually, He isn’t following the 3 step Presidential guidelines to reopen.

Forbes thinks Scarves pushes him around. I don’t buy it.

Presstitutes gave her a chance to denounce Kemp and she didn’t take the bait.

Presidential jujitsu.

Now the press has to neg on Trump and support Kemp’s effort to reopen Georgia’s economy.

That’s really what Trump wants.

I expect the rats to send virus infected people into restaurants and stores in Georgia.

I think it was a mistake for him to attack Kemp, but I think what he was trying to do was to show that even though he disagreed with the governor, it was the governor’s call and he had done nothing to interfere with him. However, the press got their sound bite and ran with it.

Personally, I thought there should have been more objection at the time when those unrealistic and unachievable WH goals (developed by the usual “task force”) were released.

Nobody knows what they are doing.

Trump left it to the states. He should leave it to the states.

This was a huge blunder by Trump. He’s starting to fold under the pressure. I can’t say anyone would have done better, but now is not the time to make forced errors in judgment.

Sorry but Trump is being a bit overwhelmed, is too sensitive to criticism and is simply talking too much. He has to sit at the back of the boat on an elevated seat with his hand firmly on the helm, rather than being the figurehead on the point that gets hit by the waves.

Lot’s of crazy stuff going on and lots of government abuse to go around. Trump is doing a great job during these unbelievable times and states are beginning to open.

In a few months we’ll have a semblance of normality and a whole lot of casualties.

That’s right. If Trump doesn’t at least come out and give weak “opposition” to what Kemp is doing, the nation would naturally question why the hell the White House even bothered developing the guidelines in the first place.

Pence supposedly gave a radio interview saying this would be behind us by Memorial Day.

They are putting out WAY too many mixed messages. The task force needs to speak with one voice on this stuff. Doctors who go rogue need to be muzzled.

If he followed guidelines, he’d never get 14 days of declining cases in the face of ramped up testing. Guidelines are designed to keep States locked down into June. IHME has Georgia’s phase one date projected at June 22nd. Kemp and any other Gov would lead their State to ruin under this nonsense. I wish Trump would wake up.

I disagree with this completely. See Post #12.

I think everyone here has covered their asses well. If Georgia is successful, it will simply accelerate the recovery process in other states. If Georgia falls flat on its face, then at least the White House has shielded itself from the fallout.

“Polls show Americans are in overwhelming favor of social distancing restrictions.”

Extrapolations from vague poll questions like this are really annoying. Name a state that hasn’t implemented and continued to implement social distancing restrictions.

The question is how much, and what nature of social distancing restrictions.

Regarding Kemp, even at least one Democrat governor (in Colorado) is loosening up on hair salons and barber shops in his “Phase 1”. The Trump team has no problem with him. I’m not sure if the President’s hang-up is mostly spas and tattoo parlors; if it is, that’s rather obscure to be making such a fuss. Maybe he’s concerned not so much with Kemp’s actions, but with his “tone”. Maybe he’s just not drinking the Kool Aid.

“The rebuke came after Dr. Anthony Fauci told other officials on the White House coronavirus task force he could not defend the governor’s decision”

And we trust Fauci WHY? He is a tyrant and has his own agenda.

FBI INVESTIGATION TARGETED DR. FAUCI BUT COMEY PULLED THE PLUG

Top U.S. scientist and research pioneer Dr. Judy Mikovits said she cooperated with the FBI during an investigation of Dr. Anthony Fauci and the National Institute of Health, alleging Fauci was a workplace TYRANT who was UNDER INVESTIGATION for SWIPING SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH, covering up TAINTED VACCINES, doling out LUCRATIVE FEDERAL GRANTS TO FECKLESS CRONIES and much more.

Kemp, the governor who tied himself tightly with the president in order to narrowly defeat Stacey Abrams last year, is appointing Atlanta businesswoman Kelly Loeffler to the Senate seat being vacated by Sen. Johnny Isakson. Trump, meanwhile, has pushed a close ally, House Judiciary Committee member Doug Collins, for the role.

Kemp is not an ally, he used Trump, barely beat what's her name, then didn't listen to Trump and appointed a woman who has since had her issues.

Each governor has the right to do what he thinks best for his state. Kemp was elected by the people of Georgia, not Fauci or Berx. He took their input into consideration and made his decision. At some point, other governors will need to show similar courage - the damage being done by this shutdown is massive and will last well into 2021.
