Lysol and Dettol maker Reckitt Benckiser warned people against using disinfectants to treat the coronavirus, after U.S. President Donald Trump suggested researchers try putting disinfectants into patients bodies.
"Under no circumstance should our disinfectant products be administered into the human body (through injection, ingestion or any other route)," the company said.
Trump said researchers should try to apply their findings to coronavirus patients by inserting light or disinfectant into their bodies.
Is there a way we can do something like that by injection, inside, or almost a cleaning? he said. It would be interesting to check that.
Reckitt said due to recent speculation and social media activity, it had been asked whether internal usage of disinfectants may be appropriate for investigation or use as a treatment.

The press are idiots
Think of something like a cough medicine...he just didn't know how to put it.
We need a disinfectant for TDS.
Reckitt Benckiser is a British multi-national.
Think they’re Trump supporters?
I’ll never buy another product of theirs.
This is another Remoaner UK company taking out its anger about Brexit on Trump.
I wouldn’t blame the press on this one. Trump should have kept his mouth closed. I was cringing as he asked the questions and gave direction for further study.
Is it safe for Democrats?
Since they are playing in to the imbecilic leftist propaganda, I will never buy a Lysol product in the future.
Your being too kind my friend. Too kind.
Don’t forget we are talking about people that ate Tide pods!
It is not the idiots that would do it that ranting about it.
It is the leftists that want anything, ANYTHING to make him look bad in any way.
So, they took this and started a champagne to exploit this.
This idiot probably believes chocolate milk comes from chocolate cows
I wish Trump would leave the speculation like this to the doctors. Whatever possible theories on cures he might have and regardless of how valid they may be, they all seem to be garbled when he brings them out, and the media is making him sound like an idiot.
Is it still OK to use it to induce abortions (as was done a century ago)?
The trouble with our populations having IQs that are dropping year to year, with lots of factors, including our massively ineffective educational system contributing to that.
Perhaps, but a person would have to be an idiot to believe Trump suggested people should inject themselves with Lysol.
And are too stupid to read labels. Every Lysol brand product I’m familiar with comes slathered with warnings. And has for years.

Sorry but the comment made no sense on a couple levels. How could he not know how it would be received given the media today? It's a pretty condescending thing to throw out in the middle of a press conference to the doctors and scientists you have put in charge. Do you not think they are looking (especially the man he was asking) under every stone for answers and you are going to come out of left field with something they haven't considered? I realize one beautiful thing about Trump is his willingness to say things no other president would consider. But he could use slightly better editing software at times.
How do you know? It's a disinfectant and Trump was talking about injecting disinfectants into the body. If he didn't mean Clorox then maybe he should have said so? Or better yet, not bring up the idea at all and instead leave medicine to the doctors?
