Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp announced on Twitter Thursday that the state would be allowing certain businesses to reopen for limited operation, in light of encouraging data concerning the novel coronavirus.

Kemp, a Republican, made the announcement despite vocal opposition from President Trump, who said he disagreed with the decision but "at the same time he must do what he thinks is right."

"For weeks now, my team has worked closely with the Trump Administration and our federal counterparts to mitigate the impact of #coronavirus in Georgia. Our decisions and direction are informed by data and public health recommendations," he began.

It’s an interesting strategy on Trump’s behalf. Go ahead and urge not to reopen GA. If GA does and things go south it will not be Trump’s fault. But if things work out for the better, it will be an example for other states to follow. It’s really a win-win strategy.

Me too. I think Kemp is right on this. I think to some degree, Trump has been a captive of all of his “experts”-—and by the way, not just Trump: Ducey in AZ has his own doofus docs saying the same thing.

It’s time to open everything...if your old or have underlying conditions stay home or be careful....

If it is hair cuts do it by appointment more or less...

It has been spreading since February

We will probably get more cases become people are out...

This lockdown does not mean you will have a lot fewer cases...

Just spread over a longer time period

Yup. This has also kept him in the White House bubble. He has not been able to go out and meet with real people.

I am SO hoping that the idea of a town hall on the Rush Limbaugh Show comes together. He needs to hear from people who have nothing to do with government.

This is a big nothingburger cooked up by the propaganda media and morons who don’t read past the headline.

Trump said he thought it was too early to open bars, salons and tattoo joints. Wow! Big deal. So the screaming 50 IQ apes in the Nazi media characterize it as “throwing Kemp under the bus.”

The biggest problem I see is that the media rats are hiding in their rat holes in DC and refuse to come out, which means we don’t have the opportunity to punch them in the mouth.

“Trump is out-of-touch with how much his base hates the excesses of the lockdown. Liberate Georgia !!!”

I am a huge Trump supporter, but I am furious about this affair with Trump publicly disagreeing with Kemp of Georgia. All the states should open ASAP before people go bankrupt and lose their houses and businesses. Please everyone email Trump and tell him to knock it off and encourage the states to open now. We can handle it if we get a few more cases. There are empty hospitals everywhere now in America. You old folks and vulnerable- JUST STAY HOME for awhile. And no, it won’t hurt us to wear masks for a month or so till the virus is mostly gone.!

The size and scope of the disagreement is worth understanding.

I told the governor of Georgia, Brian Kemp, that I disagree strongly with his decision to open certain facilities which are in violation of the phase one guidelines for the incredible people of Georgia. They're incredible people. I love those people. They are -- they're great. They've been strong, resolute.

But, at the same time, he must do what he thinks is right. I want him to do what he thinks is right, but I disagree with him on what he's doing. But I want to let the governors do -- now, if I see something totally egregious, totally out of line, I'll do. But I think spas and beauty salons and tattoo parlors and barbershops in phase one -- we're going to have phase two very soon -- is just too soon. I think it's too soon.

And I love the people. I love -- I love those people that use all of those things: the spas and the beauty parlors and barbershops, tattoo parlors. I love them. But they can wait a little bit longer. Just a little bit. Not -- not much. Because safety has to predominate. We have to have that. So I told the governor, very simply, that I disagree with his decision, but he has to do what he thinks is right.

Now, from what I understand, the beauty parlors and barbershops are open by appointment only. Maybe there is a restriction on number of people, like the old "10 people max gathering" thing.

Similar with restaurants. I am certain they are not being fully opened. They are being run WITH social distancing, just like the allowed grocery stores, post office, and other "essential" activity.

The disagreement here is blown way out of proportion, to the point that I view the entire "disgreeement" as a contrived falsehood. It is typical press, nothing it concludes on the facts is true. Nothing.

And Fauci publicly opined that hookups with strangers on tinder or grindr was between those people.

Coronavirus expert Dr. Anthony Fauci offered advice to people considering an in-person date after meeting someone virtually, whether that be through Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, Zoom or any other dating app.

"If you're willing to take a risk -- and everybody has their own tolerance for risks -- you could figure out if you want to meet somebody," Fauci, 79, told Snapchat's "Good Luck America" political show, according to a full interview obtained by Vanity Fair. "It depends on the level of the interaction that you want to have."

Wouldn’t it make more sense to have states open at the county level instead of statewide? My coastal county has only had five confirmed cases of coronavirus, whereas the highest counts are obviously in large counties: Multnomah, Washington. Go east of the Cascades into Central and Eastern Oregon, it’s a totally different situation.

That’s true - also, I wouldn’t be surprised to find this is a good cop, bad cop play. Reverse psychology.

After the President said approving things about Hydroxy Chloroquine, the fake news made it their mission ever since to report it as a quack remedy, a medical failure and even a danger to society - all because Trump approved!

So maybe Kemp and the President figured Trump disapproving of the reopening of Georgia’s economy might be the best way to sell it to the public.

President Trump has been known to employ such tactics.

FR doesn’t give me the choice to list the Philippines, where I’ve lived the last 19 years. So I put down my home of record in the States.

You underestimate Trump. He knows very well who these so-called experts are starting with Dr. Fauci and Birx. He is simply letting them reveal them selves. Has anybody bothered to check on their bios? And who their connections are?

The number of people under age 30 dying from corona virus is almost zero. The elderly and vulnerable should shelter, not the young and healthy.

One thing I never do is “underestimate” Trump.

But he is a human. He has made some serious personnel mistakes (Scaramucci, Tillerson, Kelly, Mattis, etc.).

Much of the weakness is traceable back to Sessions being a total dipwad, which tied Trump’s hands to a great extent in cleaning out some of these departments.

“does it mean people can make individual choices about their behavior?”

That’s a “revolutionary” idea. I believe it might catch on. ;)

As I posted on April 23:

“My favorite maneuver was:

“He wanted all governors to open their respective states.
It’s the JOB of the governors to open their states.
Since the MSM opposes everything he says, he goes with reverse psychology.

“’I’M the boss!’ ‘I’LL be the one to say when the country opens.’ (You almost could see the twinkle in his eye.)

“So the MSM shrieks that he doesn’t have the authority (as he knew they would).

“Then he says, ‘I’ll leave it up to the governors when to open their states.’

“MSM thinks he caved.
“He got what he wanted in the first place.

“He wanted all governors to open their respective states.
It’s the JOB of the governors to open their states.
Since the MSM opposes everything he says, he goes with reverse psychology.”
