MADISON (WKOW) A Marquette County teen has filed a federal lawsuit against the Marquette County Sheriff, who she says ordered her to remove an Instagram post about recovering from COVID-19.
The Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty filed the lawsuit in federal court Thursday on behalf of Amyiah Cohoon and her parents, Richand and Angela, against Marquette County Sheriff Joseph Konrath and a patrol sergeant for violating the First and Fourteenth Amendment rights.
The lawsuit results from a March incident where Marquette County law enforcement threatened Cohoon and her parents with arrest unless an Instagram post was removed.
According to the lawsuit, Cohoon, a high school student, had a scare in March with COVID-19 and posted about her experience on Instagram. A few days later, a deputy sheriff showed up at her home and demanded that she remove her post or be cited for disorderly conduct, arrested and jailed.

This is terrible reporting. First, I cannot imagine that there is any justification for threatening the teen with arrest. That being said, the sheriff must have some silly reason in his head for making the threat. But the story doesn’t seem to make any effort for showing the cop’s thinking. That’s just bad reporting. I’m not hinting that there might be a “good reason”. But I’d like to know the cop’s “stupid reason”. Because this thing reads as totally random.
I read the full article....what the hell is so controversial about her instagram post?
But then again, I am watching Netflix “Making a Murderer” and it seems some Wisconsin sheriff departments are “effin’” out of control.
That’s what you get with a power tripping Governor.
Administrator Meichers update stated that, It was brought to my attention today that there was a rumor floating out there that one of our students contracted Covid-19 while on the band trip to Florida two weeks ago. Let me assure you there is NO truth to this. This was a foolish means to get attention and the source of the rumor has been addressed. This rumor had caught the attention of our Public Health Department and she was involved in putting a stop to this nonsense. In times like this, the last thing we need out there is misinformation. I asked her to prepare a short statement for the purpose of this update. I’ve pasted it below.

A petty bureaucrat in the school doesn’t want bad stats, so he is able to get the police to threaten the parents of the student with arrest for the student posting “thought crimes” on Instagram. Nice.
Sue the f’n school. Sue the f’n police dept that is apparently too complicit with the city to even have a dim thought about constitutionally protected rights. Sue all the MFers.
I think she would have a better case, said “NO” and let them arrest her.
Read the lawsuit. I suspect Disney World and Universal Orlando may have something to do with this.
Made for TV: Sheriff Konrath and Deputy Klump.
One more K and it would be time to break out the white sheets.
Southern District of Wisconsin.
If either or both of those businesses are using that county’s sheriff’s department as their personal goon squad, there should be financial hell to pay.
The incompetent news story doesnt state why the sheriff or Deputy Klump felt justified in their demands, or the basis of the request to delete. Piss-poor reporting.
Its worth reading the complaint (esp. p8) to appreciate breathtaking authoritarian display. Id have sued the school district as well.
Heres a link to the complaint

Did you read the entire lawsuit that was filed?
I feel like I don’t understand the world anymore.
In effect, the teen posted something like “I went to Florida and caught a cold” (or COVID-19 — but why does that matter?).
So now there seems to be some implication that Disney wants to crush her for spreading such dastardly rumors? And Disney is somehow getting a Wisconsin sheriff to threaten her with arrest?
Is anyone is a position to say she’s wrong? Or right? Maybe she’s just someone on the internet saying “stuff”? Is that illegal now?
How about you summarize that lawsuit for us and show that the threat of arrest is at all justified?
If you get a chance, read the complaint.
If either venue had anything to do with this, they and their county goon squad are in for a world of financial hurt.
Incidences true or false need to be confirmed and if true we need to stand and be counted
Government at its finest! Love how the minors address is not redacted, so guess we will see Lib justice at work.
Sorry but I'm not very good at summarizing. It would be best if you read it yourself.........
it’s time for the pitchforks
I could use an extra 10M.
Maybe I should move to WI for a couple months.
