There are a lot of people who are ruining the country right now, according to Michael Savage. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Liberal mayors in big cities like San Francisco. Undocumented immigrants. Homeless people.
But for the past two months, listeners to Mr. Savages conservative radio show have heard him howl with unabated contempt about another menace: The pimps in the right-wing media who tell you what you want to hear. They are intellectual dwarfs and science illiterates, he says, who spent weeks downplaying the threat from the coronavirus epidemic and accusing President Trumps opponents of exaggerating it to hurt him politically.
On Mr. Savages broadcast, which has one of the largest audiences in talk radio with 7.5 million listeners each week, the virus has never been a hoax or a bad case of the sniffles. He has lectured his fans on the research in detail: How it is transmitted; which treatments are proving effective; and the difference between morbidity and mortality rates.
With no small amount of self-satisfaction, Mr. Savage reminds people of his credentials a Ph.D. and training in epidemiology and of the fact that he was one of the few voices in conservative media who had warned them all along.

What about Chicago, Los Angeles, Atlanta, San Francisco, Houston, Boston, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Jose...?
California has three of the 10 largest cities in the United States and the whole state of California has slightly more than 28,000 cases, a little over 10% of the total cases in New York. You also have to consider that California receives most of the direct flights from China. I just checked, New York gets no direct flights from China.
Lastly, New York has three times as many cases (226,198) as the next city on Worldometer’s list, New Jersey (75,317).
These numbers really don’t make sense.
Too many Freepers who use basic math and common sense to mock COVID-19 hysteria?
Claim: COVID-19 is ravaging the world.
Math: 145,000 global deaths = 0.002% of global population.
Claim: COVID-19 is ravaging the USA.
Math: At least 40 states - including CA, TX, and FL, the three largest - have more COVID-19 deaths than influenza deaths.
Claim: Anyone infected with COVID-19 who dies should be classified as a COVID-19 death, regardless of any other diseases that might be present.
Math: Apply that same standard to influenza, and the USA will have at least 250,000 influenza deaths every year.
the NY numbers certainly need examining by people qualified to do so. clearly, some anomalies can be presumed, given the loose CDC definition of covid deaths, etc., but there may be even more to it.
time will tell, hopefully.
“How does that freaking happen?”
Proximity and poor hygiene?
In some cases, the coronavirus deaths have been downplayed, like China and Italy.
‘I never listened to Michael Weiner, anyhow.’
I couldn’t stand him; the first time I heard him, a caller asked him how he was...Savage replied ‘you don’t care how I am, and I don’t care how you are; you got something to say, say it or quit wasting my time.’...
seeya, Mr. Wiener...
‘Its hard to take seriously someone who appears lost themselves.’
really...? someone whose religious beliefs might differ from yours you find hard to take seriously...?
Aw, c’mon now, come out and say “jooos” so we’ll all know you’re an anti Semite. But don’t if you don’t want to. I’ve already figured it out. As have most people who have read your post.

‘Hannity is a repetitious, self-important blowhard’
yes of course; Don Lemon is so much better...
‘How does that freaking happen???’
lousy football teams...
I long ago concluded that whatever Michael Savage says is largely for the purpose of gaining attention for Michael Savage.
Isn’t that guy named Mike Weiner? Nothing savage about it.
When the NYTimes even notes the existence of Michael Savage you know they are up against it to make a point.
Chemo-brain is a very real thing and lately I'm wondering if Rush has it. I say that with all respect and admiration for him as I'm a long time listener and a fan. Been listening to him since he started on WLS-AM in the Chicago market.
Savage was basically a nutritionist. Vitamins, supplements. My mother had all of his books.
The mud wrestlers came in and werent shown the door. At the time I even suggested we consider going to a pay site. Those of us that tried to self police (remember Eagles Up! which led me to change my name) eventually got enforced instead. Quantity over quality, was apparently the decision.
Not sure what raised the question on this particular thread. I have been a huge fan of Savage in the past, but have turned his show off the last few weeks. With his educational background, he should be soaring In listeners right now, and I actually sought his show out when this whole crisis was breaking.
But his long term dislike, or what now appears to be envy, of Hannity and Limbaugh seems to have consumed him at this point. Hes grown arrogant and doesnt like the way Trump sparks to the little man, often in little man language. He still hates modern liberals, but has developed a new found hate for what he considers simple minded conservatives, who are demonstrating sheep like behavior for the new cult of personality. There may be some truth in what he sees, but these people are not the enemy, not now. They are our grunt forces in the current war.
Michael Weiner is a weird dude who operates under a fake name, lives in San Francisco, and has a dog fetish. I honestly think hes more of a stage actor than a political commentator, and youll never convince me that hes really a conservative.
This is no doubt a publicity stunt. He went out of his way to pick a fight with Mark Levin about ten years ago. That was all about attention and ratings.
I’m guessing 3 international airports and a large Chinatown.
When they go back and research this in detail I bet youll find that close contact in trains and buses is the single biggest factor in spreading the disease. Between the subways and commuter bus and rail service, this would explain why NYC and its surrounding suburbs have more cases than almost the rest of the country combined.
