The number of Americans seeking unemployment benefits jumped by 5.25 million last week, as massive job losses caused by the coronavirus pandemic continued to mount.
That brings total claims over the four weeks ended April 11 to nearly 22 million workers, erasing the entirety of labor market gains since the 2008 financial crisis, a stunning sign of the colossal economic damage inflicted by the virus outbreak. Before the pandemic, the largest number of Americans to seek jobless aid in a four-week stretch was 2.7 million in the fall of 1982.
With a labor force that totals about 162 million people, that brings the unemployment rate close to 13 percent.

The whole reaction to this has been massively overblown, this is not the first coronavirus we have seen, nor will it be the last.
Now China’s reliance making everything was being threatened by a change in leadership in America which was a major consumer of those products. When Americans hailed their leaders decision to make many of them in their country US. Their politburo worried. Worse yet opponents to the Chinese regime in power had its citizens protesting its policies since that change in American leadership wave the American flag and present his name when doing so. All of which presented those in power the need to destroy that leader,
Would a runaway plague created by a nation which could threaten populations of an enemy cause them to react by demanding extreme restriction of movement by its population to prevent its spread ? Thus wind up fragmenting its economy
To stop the return of manufacturing of products back to the US that went to China. China backers here who’s family members are making millions from China through their political connections will be hit hard are also claiming that Trump’s alleged stock ownership in a quinine pills maker claim its a controlling interest in a product to be totally ineffective and when used requires a severe restriction of movement when near a possible carrier known as a shutdown because of its rapid transmission .
My guess is that many of these jobs are not coming back, and that the standard of living for many people will take years to recover. They will not be in a better place economically.

It’s a small price to pay to save a few people who will die during the next flu season anyway.
The crazy thing about stock markets is that buy on rumor and sell on news is the general rule. They also do not like uncertainty. So even though the job numbers came out and are supposedly a little higher than what the experts said it at least is some certainty that people can place bets on that is why the market is going up. However I am dubious of the 5000000 “projected” number as the expert probably knew that it was going to be higher than that but wanted to make President Trump look bad.

Uncertainty is worse than bad news. The markets collapsed because then people assumed the worse.
Now, while things are still bad, at least there’s a better sense of how things are going to wind up.
We were already at 3.5% unemployment. If we add 13.5% to that, wouldn’t the unemployment rate be around 17%?
Time to end the BS and hold those responsible accountable...big time.
