The death toll in Iran from the coronavirus pandemic is likely nearly double the officially reported figures, due to undercounting and because not everyone with breathing problems has been tested for the virus, a parliament report said.
Iranian health officials offered no comment on the report, which represents the highest-level charge yet from within the Islamic Republics government of its figures being questionable, something long suspected by international experts.
Iran on Wednesday put the death toll at 4,777, out of 76,389 confirmed cases of the virus still making it the Mideasts worst outbreak by far.

AP still searching for some covid deaths?
Well, in the US it’s probably half what has been reported, so it all averages out.
Not in this case, I think. Neither the Iranian Mullahs nor the Chinese Communist apparatchiks have anything to gain by being honest with the numbers.
The Iranians muffed their virus response from the get-go, I suspect that they are working as hard as possible to minimize their numbers. The Mullahs are already dealing with broad popular discontent over economic mismanagement and by expensive foreign adventurism by the Revolutionary Guards Quds Force. Acknowledgement that their mismanagement made the virus problem worse would be a further blow to their credibility.
Good!
Muslims have been spreading the rumor that they are immune to the virus.....which is helpful. /s
Quite honestly, this does not bring me joy. If the article said this is decimating their Revolutionary Guard and Leadership, then that would be a good thing for Iran. I actually feel for the ordinary citizen in Iran living under those evil leaders.
I would bet they are no longer licking everything.
