Fauci offers support for Trump, saying he backed social distancing after first recommendation
The Hill ^ | 04 13 2020 | Morgan Chalfant

Dr. Anthony Fauci on Monday sought to squash any notion of a fissure between he and President Trump, saying at the opening of a coronavirus task force briefing that the president repeatedly and immediately backed social distancing recommendation from he and other public health officials despite the economic pain.

“The president listened to the recommendation and went to the mitigation,” Fauci told reporters in the White House briefing room on Monday evening.

Fauci was seeking to clarify remarks he made a day prior in an interview with CNN when he acknowledged that more lives could have been saved if the federal government had moved forward with social distancing guidelines earlier than mid-March.

The remarks followed a New York Times report said that public health officials went to Trump during the third week of February to recommend he issue social distancing guidelines.

Fauci said Monday evening that he didn’t know the date he and Dr. Deborah Birx went to Trump to make a formal recommendation, but he insisted that Trump listened to the advice from public health experts, offering Trump his backing amid criticism of the White House response to the pandemic.

You’re no patriot. You’re a sheep and a coward.

A bit late for him to walk this back. 24 hours in the media cycle.

And the main stream media did nothing to challenge the notion, it was all in the alternative media talk radio and online discussions.

The timeline and quotes are there to show that the Jake Tapper crap was a false line

Fauci is in a difficult position. The left wants to twist every statement he makes into a condemnation of Trump in hopes that they can convince the public to turn on the President and the right wants to twist every statement he makes into a betrayal of Trump in hopes that they can convince the President to turn on Fauci...

What’s more, lives are saved by not getting this illness. They are also saved by not getting in the car wrecks by being at home and not getting in the bar fights and being at home and not out at night. But how are domestic abuse rates , suicides, and other conditions - what about people’ stress and people being unable to see a doctor on a regular basis for heart care?

Media on both sides want a fight between Fauci and Trump. You see it here on FR. I neither love him or hate him, but this has been obvious from the beginning.

The left wants to say Trump ignores experts and people die.

The right has many people who think we should not have shut down so they claim Fauci, not Trump, is running the country.

One of the media’s go-to narratives about Trump has been that he does not listen to people - his intel folks, his DOJ, his military, etc etc.

This was going to be their obvious play from day 1. They have done this for 3 years....

Jonathan Karl was pissed Trump smacked him down. It was great.

The ABC anchor and the reporter were certainly upset.

Fauci never criticized Trump in that interview.

Good to see Fauci’s standing up to the media now, too.

It was great for Fauci set the tone of the press conference and then Trump ran the press over with an 18 wheeler, a couple of times.

Yep - and I loved when the idiot asked him if he was speaking of his own volition and he slapped the person down....too bad so many here have FDS (as opposed to TDS) and don’t realize that the more they attack Fauci, it feeds the fake News attacks against Trump.

“According to BOTH President Trump and Dr. Fauci that did not happen.”

Technically, maybe it didn’t happen — with Trump himself. But Trump has people who are fully capable of kicking immunologist ass.

Yeah. Trying to live your life with your lips permanently attached to Hillary’s ass IS a difficult position.
