Dr. Anthony Fauci on Monday sought to squash any notion of a fissure between he and President Trump, saying at the opening of a coronavirus task force briefing that the president repeatedly and immediately backed social distancing recommendation from he and other public health officials despite the economic pain.
“The president listened to the recommendation and went to the mitigation,” Fauci told reporters in the White House briefing room on Monday evening.
Fauci was seeking to clarify remarks he made a day prior in an interview with CNN when he acknowledged that more lives could have been saved if the federal government had moved forward with social distancing guidelines earlier than mid-March.
The remarks followed a New York Times report said that public health officials went to Trump during the third week of February to recommend he issue social distancing guidelines.
Fauci said Monday evening that he didn’t know the date he and Dr. Deborah Birx went to Trump to make a formal recommendation, but he insisted that Trump listened to the advice from public health experts, offering Trump his backing amid criticism of the White House response to the pandemic.

On POLITICS NATION yesterday,Dr Fauci stated TRUMP waited and that he had voiced concerns in mid January.....HE SAID HE WAS RIGHT AND TRUMP WAITED......
One of the first things Trump did was turn to Fauci, who he referred to as “My friend Tony”, and ask him to recount what and advice he gave on shutting things down, and when he gave it. The cameras turned to Fauci who almost literally jumped up to get to the podium, and sitting beside him was Dr. Scarf who had the most dreadful look on her face. Clearly, Trump, she, and Fauci had it out beforehand, and they came to a hard “consensus” on what was going to happen.
It took Fauci a while to figure out how nasty the media is. The look he shot the reporter that asked him “is anyone forcing you to say that” was PRICELESS.

Sorry, I was referring to yesterday when Fauci was asked if lives could have been saved if the lockdown started in February.
