Last month, the media jumped on the news that the United States had more confirmed cases of the coronavirus than any other nation. That was bogus on two fronts. First, U.S. intelligence agencies believe that China is lying about its true numbers, and reports from inside the country tell of crematoriums working around the clock and people being paid off to keep quiet.
Second, the United States does not lead the world in coronavirus cases per capitawhich is the best way to compare how the pandemic is being contained in each country. For much of the pandemic, Italy has been overwhelmed by the coronavirus, but Italy has fewer cases and deaths than the United States. The United States has nearly six times the population of Italy, and when you measure cases and deaths per capita, its easy to see why Italy was overwhelmed and the United States is not.
Here are the top six countries by confirmed cases (based on the case numbers from the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University as of 9:00 am ET April 12) in descending order (excluding China because their numbers are bogus):
Now, here are the top six countries by confirmed cases per million people (based on population numbers from the CIA World Fact Book) in descending order:

Pretty sure China would be #1 if we had anything close to factual numbers coming from them. What the CCP has given us is BS.
In the war Trump vs Covid-19, the media and Democrats (but I repeat myself) have clearly taken sides. Covid-19 has their FULL support against Trump and our Liberty! They are serving as a loyal PR firm to a virus and to China! #Demoncratic!
the numbers represent all deaths.. seems they have an agenda even in a death count.
why have they been able to give that number labeled virus deaths.
and they are trying to say an earlier start on this... while the dems and media were ‘impeach hing’.. Trump was already on it.. and now they want to change their story.
I tell friends and family when this comes up that the United States has about the same size in population as Europe, in order to compare apples to apples.
Compare Europes cases and deaths and you will see that the United States is faring much better.
Europe is transparent with its data; China and Russia, etc arent.
Europe supposedly has great socialized medicine.
The United States has fared much better.

Now they tell us! How could they have missed the severity of the outbreak in a major city with a population of 11 million in a province of 58 million?
This is CORRECT! the lying Mainstream media wantsto panic Americans by these FALSE and Lying statistics. Any thinking American knows this is FAKE NEWS at it’s height of ridiculousness.

Just data, numbers, not a forecast, model or projection.

Actually, Zimbabwe followed by San Marino are #1 and #2, respectively.
Four countries with socialized medicine AND a higher death rate.
I dont buy it. Strokes and heart attacks are being counted as corona deaths. I Dont believe this crap . Its like believing in Russian collusion.
? Numbers in India???
Confirmed cases is not really a helpful number. It is the ratio of dead people per confirmed case that really matters. So far, that number is very low.
I have been doing a similar comparison with those five countries based on the total population of 324 million being comparable to the United States total population of 331 million. Based on 10:00 AM numbers at https://ncov2019.live/data:
Population (Approximate)
— 331,300,000 - United States
— 324,200,000 - Europe Five
-— 65,300,000 - France
-— 83,800,000 - Germany

— 677,474 - Europe Five
— 132,591 - France
— 129,369 - Germany
— 157,397 - Italy
— 169.496 - Spain
-— 88,621 - United Kingdom
Cases per million
— 1,694 - United States

Irans numbers do not look believable compared to other countries.
>>? Numbers in India???<<
India doesn’t have near as many cases as would be expected, especially considering its location near China. That could be because they use hydroxychloroquine to ward off malaria.
An interesting metric to apply to a country is the number of tests they run to get a confirmed case. The typical affected country finds a case for every ten or so tests they run. (Examples down below)
India has run about 190,000 tests and only has just under 10,000 confirmed cases, so they are finding a case for every 19 tests they run, and since testing is light in India overall, you would think the most suspect cases would be being tested.
Iceland, on the other hand, is testing like crazy (10% of the population now) and also gets a confirmed case for every 20 tests they run, possibly indicating that they are now wasting money testing so many people. (It might make more sense for them to now save the money for antibody testing on the entire population later.)
Here are the approximate number of tests run to get one confirmed case in:
U.S - 5
Spain - 3.6
Italy - 6.4
France - 2.5
Germany -10.5
UK - 4
Turkey -6.6
Netherlands - 4.5
Switzerland - 7.5
Canada - 17 (Interesting, given that their testing has been average)
Portugal - 10
Austria - 10
Israel - 10
Sweden - 5
Australia - 57 (Interesting, since testing is only a bit above the average. Climate?)
Summing up (tentatively): If the number of tests run is between a half percent and 1.5 percent of the population, finding a low number of cases per test could indicate that the virus isn’t spreading very fast in that country due to some protective factor.
Those could range from climate (too warm for the virus?), prophylactic use of malaria drugs (India?), effective social distancing, effective tracking and quarantining, or other factors.
