Trump calls decision on reopening US the biggest of his life
The Hill ^ | April 10, 2020 | M. Chalfant, B. Samuels

Posted on 04/11/2020 12:10:17 AM PDT by CondoleezzaProtege

President Trump on Friday described the decision on when and how to reopen the country as the most difficult one he’s had to make in his life, underscoring the careful line he is walking between concerns about the economy and public health during the coronavirus outbreak.

“I don’t know that I’ve had a bigger decision. But I’m going to surround myself with the greatest minds. Not only the greatest minds, but the greatest minds in numerous different businesses, including the business of politics and reason...”

“And we’re going to make a decision, and hopefully it’s going to be the right decision,” he continued. “I will say this. I want to get it open as soon as we can.”

...But public health experts have warned about the risk of reopening the country too early, which could set up a nightmare scenario where COVID-19 again surges in communities and overwhelms hospitals.

Even if Trump decides to relax the guidelines, the decision to reduce restrictions like stay-at-home orders and business closures would ultimately fall to states that implemented them.

To map out a potential reopening, Trump said he will unveil members of a new group Tuesday that he dubbed the “Opening Our Country Council.” The cohort is expected to include administration officials, business leaders and political figures from around the country.

Trump has repeatedly insisted that he will listen to recommendations from top health officials like Anthony Fauci and Deborah Birx when making a decision on when and how to relax the guidelines.

“I listen to them about everything. I think they are actually surprised. I have great respect for these people, all of them, and others that are working for us,” Trump told reporters Friday...

“I will certainly listen,” Trump continued later. “I understand the other side of the argument very well."

Without widespread, easily accessible testing, it’s going to be very dangerous to open things up. Trump made such a push for ventilators, Etc to be made as soon as possible by as many as possible. Why he is not doing the same thing with simple, rapid testing is baffling me. If Biden was smart enough to come up with that talking point, he has a good chance at winning the election. One asymptomatic worker or just anyone in general enters a nursing home or an elderly housing apartment and wipes out the population, and it’s really going to hurt Trump. How do we visit our parents and grandparents without knowing if we’re carrying this thing or if our children are? If the virus primarily only killed young children would we have the same cavalier attitude?

I have suffered from headaches (maybe mild seizures) for a good part of my life.

Chiropractic and acupuncture help the most.

What times I mentioned my headaches to the medical profession, most gave me blank stares.

One good NP prescribed immetrex and those help sometimes.

Blue state governors are going to keep pushing this economic calamity to the limit thereby forcing a federal bail out of deeply indebted states which is the end goal of all of this BS. It ain't obout the virus anymore.

Follow the $$$$$.

Trump, open it up full throttle and let people like bramps continue to self isolate.

Read the transcripts of the interviews posted on this string and educate yourself. We are prolonging this epidemic and costing more lives by staying shut down. As many as 30 to 60,000 die each year from the flu. We don’t bring the world to a screeching halt.

There are at least three reasons that the models have so far, and will most likely continue to overestimate the number of hospitalizations, ICU and ventilator need and deaths.

1). The models/predictions are being updated based on hospitalizations, ICU’s, ventilators and deaths that have occurred so far with about half having occurred in NYC. Demographics, especially density of population, in NYC are not like that in most of the rest of the country.

2). The CDC instructs that anyone who dies with even the suspicion that the person had Covid-19 should/must be coded as dying from the C-virus.

3). The model uses assumptions and inferred parameters which always err on the side of the greater number of ICU needs, deaths, etc.

The C-virus is a serious health threat but a model is only as good as its underlying format and the data input allow.

The Covid Act Now model explanation opens with the following disclaimer: “This model updates every 24 hours and is intended to help make fast decisions, not predict the future.”

Are there federal regulations for restrictions on work or travel within the USA?

”No, because he knows more people will die than if he keeps everything closed.”

With all due respect, this is not ultimately contingent upon whether we stay shut down or not, but solely and wholly on God’s jurisdiction. Even from a secular standpoint and empirically speaking: some of the countries with the best Covid responses and lowest fatality rates have not had to shut down altogether (South Korea comes to mind ) or are lifting their lockdown orders (Austria.) We need to come to grips with the dysfunctions in our societal systems that have done far more disable us than the actual severity of the virus itself. We are way too reliant on China for example, for even the most basic of medical supplies!

From a spiritual standpoint, it’s not as though this virus is bound by laws of nature even in the way that something like gravity is. Hence why it’s confounded so many and makes many of these data models and speculations moot. Covid-19 could very well go the way of SARS and MERS viruses and dissipate without much of our ‘help.’ Or it could become something even worse! Even if we do everything ‘right.’

All this to say that in the end, it makes me wonder whether God is expecting more of His people to stand in the gap. Yes within our homes for starters, but eventually He may ask us to stand before the Red Sea and take a physical leap of faith. Perhaps this means gathering to meet again (with all necessary precaution and keeping the most vulnerable at home) - so that we fight this virus in the spiritual realms.

This is a spiritual battle. Not biological.

One of my former business partners said it very well: the reason why i work is because I dont want to see my wife.

Sounds like a prescription for someone ELSE to 'see' her!

Guess wrong, and he will not be reelected. Guess really wrong, and he will not survive.

Honestly, he may not have any chance at election anyway. After destroying the economy and turning the US into a socialist nation, no one wants to see what act 2 would be like.

We evidently do!

62,000,000 VERY young children can attest to this FACT!!

Considering a lot of “concerned” karens are DEMANDING the governors shut everything down so they can feel better about themselves, I am not so sure about that.

My hope is that Trump wakes up from the spell cast over the nation by Dr. Wormtongue. And sooner rather than later.

As many as 30 to 60,000 die each year from the flu. We don’t bring the world to a screeching halt.

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

My post and concern is mostly for the elderly for which this virus is often a death sentence. They can get a flu shot and pnuemonia shot but they have nowhere to hide from this virus. Are they just to be isolated from society for the next 12 months until a vaccine arrives? There are plenty of stories if you look about this virus killing many at nursing homes, etc. I care mostly about the lives but if you care about the election know that just one incident like this that the media can run with will be devastating in November.

And my ultimate point is that it doesn’t have to happen. We watched Mike Lindell from My Pillow and the CEO’s of countless giant companies tell us how they were now going into the ventilator and PPE business. Well we don’t even need the ventilators. So put every resource into simple, rapid testing and virtually the problem is solved overnight and we can completely open up very soon with minimal death.

Trump’s life has centered around thinking outside of the box. Even if every CVS in the country has testing but you only go when you have symptoms then it is pointless. Get simple, quick machines on vehicles and plant them in large parking lots all over the country and let people get tested quickly and conveniently.

We fight ferociously here for the lives of the unborn, but because the one’s now that will die are the elderly we are now just supposed to turn a blind eye?
