Its a Bloomberg article, so link only (I dont want to get in trouble with Mike).
(Excerpt) Read more at news.yahoo.com ...
The California Governor is provoking a response. He is in effect placing his state at risk in an attempt to force the President to react.
The Governor’s action and words speak clearly to the desperation of not only California but the entire Democrat illusion.
On the other coast, the Governor of New York has made a series of impossible demands to demonstrate how inadequate the President is. The Governor is shown to be an ignorant ass because the President not only met but exceeded all the preposterous demands.
One hospital ship and thousands and thousands of excess ventilators show the governor to be a political ass in the time of America’s crisis. The President is on record as saying when it’s over, ventilators will be going for $5 apiece
The cherry on top is the democrats are turning to the failed New York governor as the Presidential candidate salvation
Sort of like a hostage situation where the hostage takers demand a bus and a fully fueled plane.
That's how the article starts. First, it's labeled as opinion, not news. So at least a bit of honestly. But then what? FedGov is feeble. And "the consequences for the fight are positive" what?
I think the opinion-writer is trying to say that California's attempt to take on the fight in its own way is a good move but it reads like a box of Chinese condoms. And the deeper suggestion reveals the biases and assumptions of the writer. This equipping of state run hospitals always was the task for the states. The states give the doctors their licenses, the states fund the state hospitals, the states regulate the private medical facilities. The FedGov has a role, but short of near total military control over the 50 states it couldn't possibly deploy all the efforts that have always been the responsibilities of the states. The author clearly has no clue about our Federalist system and the limits imposed on the Federal Government by the Constitution or the rights and responsibilities of the states and the people.
The implications for the brewing civil war between Trumpism and Americas budding 21st-century majority, embodied by Californias multiracial liberal electorate, are less clear.
That's how the first paragraph ends. LOL.
So liberals are for “states rights” only when they want it.
I’d be fine if CA formed their own nation away from us.
Sorry to tell you this but we already fought a war over the right of any state(s) to secede. The North won the war. The Confederacy lost and surrendered.
Banned?! Heck, we elected a communist/moslem president...
Well, sure. I’m fine with them no longer having 55 Electoral votes - and also perfectly fine with their Congressional delegation no longer being in the mix, either.
His face on the front, his ass on the back.
Well, thats really odd. Before I posted, I did a search of titles with the word Newsom. But this article did not come up. Any ideas why?
I just did another search, and now both articles came up. I think I might have misspelled Newsom in my first try. Apologies to the moderators.
CA is not a donor state.
I don’t really know other than the search engine seems to work sometimes and not others. The mods have booted be for a few days a couple of times. Reason: “Learn to search”. So, there is that. Then someone failed to reinstate me and I sent Jim a note and got reinstated. Even just using “key” words doesn’t always work so........... Stay healthy.
Looks like Yahoo needs to shut down the comments section — too many Americans are voicing their opinions, and the liberals are silent.
> Looks like Yahoo needs to shut down the comments section... <
Thats the really weird thing about Yahoo. Their articles usually have a liberal slant. But the comments are mainly conservative. I see that all the time.
Na, he’s blown past breach of oath, straight into active treason.
The last idiots that tried that saw Columbia and Atlanta burned.
If Texas or Georgia (or South Carolina ...) did that, the Union would declare war on them.
Yeah...That would be a great way to take care of all those pesky CALPERS and CALSTRS retirement unfunded obligations.
