The next week is going to be our Pearl Harbor moment. It’s going to be our 9/11 moment. It’s going to be the hardest moment for many Americans in their entire lives, and we really need to understand that if we want to flatten that curve and get through to the other side, everyone needs to do their part.”
He continued, “Ninety percent of Americans are doing their part, even in the states where they haven’t had a shelter in place. But if you can’t give us 30 days, governors, give us a week, give us what you can so we don’t overwhelm our health care systems over this next week and let’s reassess at that point. We want everyone to understand — you have to be Rosie the Riveter. You have to do your part.”
Adams said, “I wish every governor would encourage the people in their states to follow these guidelines for 30 days. That’s what I want.”

Every year we have the flu and it kills way beyond this.
I think next flu season, I'll wear a mask and gloves. I have never had a flu shot and my first and last flu was in 1968. I'm 76 in Upstate and pretty much hibernate in the winter and work mostly from home.
This kind of hyperbole doesn’t help.
Here’s the thing - even IF they introduce draconian efforts THIS week may not be the Pearl Harbor event but it could be the week after OR the week after THAT.
So what happens if it’s delayed?
On top of that, even if you do “flatten the curve” at this rate - as soon as the social distancing measures are reduced this curve goes right back up again and then we’re right back at our Pearl Harbor moment.
This is pure socialism 101 and what you get when you listen to philosopher kings.
I went and listened to the interview. So, mass death this week? Otherwise, what’s with the Pearl Harbor/ 9 11 metaphor? More likely, as you say, pimping the panic
Respectfully disagree, 90% of the population is not doing it’s part. Ventured out yesterday for the first time in a week (with gloves and mask). There were a lot other folks out as well. Unfortunately, I saw the inverse, 90% (literally) were not wearing gloves or masks or keeping their distance. This included store employees. I’m not a conspiracy nut, but I don’t shoot without ear protection and don’t weld without a shield.
A bit dramatic for the Pearl Harbor and 9/11 comment.
It seems like everyone these days is auditioning to being on television and build up their instagram following.
I am not sure what else to say.

I can see where he is coming from but his (and the administration’s) messaging isn’t good.
I was wondering why the grocery stores were once again besieged. These guys are not paid to orate a sci fi thriller, they need to just give facts. And lately, I’m not sure what the facts are.
Messaging is awful.
NYC area is still far out in the lead with no other state even close.
