Unraveling the Ties Between NBC and the Chinese Regime
The Epoch Times ^ | 04/05/2020 | Tian Yun

The outbreak of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) virus, commonly referred to as the novel coronavirus, over the past few months has highlighted the close relationships that many Western companies have with Beijing. Among the American companies with close ties to the Chinese communist regime is NBC Universal.

NBC Universal is one of the United States’ biggest media conglomerates, with a television network, several cable channels, many local television stations, film and television production companies, and theme parks. Public information shows that the company’s total revenue in 2017 reached $33 billion.

On March 14, NBC News published a commentary titled, “Coronavirus in China kept me under quarantine. I felt safer there than back in the U.S.” It was written by Tony Perman, an American music professor who recently traveled to Shanghai with his family on vacation. He praised the Communist authorities’ virus prevention measures and belittled the U.S. government. “We left Shanghai as the city was showing signs of flickering optimism. New cases were rare. Life was returning to normal,” the professor wrote. “We entered the U.S. as a country in panic … it is clear that the government can’t stop the spread.”

On March 16, the Washington Examiner published Becket Adams’ rebuttal to the NBC story, criticizing NBC News for parroting the Chinese regime’s propaganda. He said of Perman: “He is not a healthcare professional. He is not a crisis management expert. He is not even a government worker. He is just a guy who saw what he was allowed to see as a tourist in China.”

“Yet, for whatever reason, one of the largest and most powerful media groups in the United States has given him a platform to praise the government that caused this crisis and to criticize the U.S. based on his very limited experiences

I got a copy of the Epoch Times in my mailbox a couple days ago. Never seen it before. It appears to have ties to the Falun Gong, and is 100% against the CCP, and pro-Trump.

Yes, if you want a counter balance to Chicom propaganda from The China Daily or CCTV or from Western apologies to the China regime like Martin Jacques, this is a site to read.

Hong Kong Free Press is also another site read. See here:

As usual, READ WITH DISCERNMENT. The truth is often hidden when read in CONTEXT.

Walter Duranty revisited. They have learned nothing because truth was not the objective. Never let the truth get in the way of the agenda.

The Epoch Times is a useful counterweight to Party propaganda, but it is nowhere near an unbiased source. Sinology, particularly regarding the party, is as difficult an art as Sovietology. We have only the dimmest view of internal party workings.

The ET has some insight, and some decent sources, but I keep their biases in mind.

That said, their calling out of NBC is welcome.

Everywhere an American looked an item came from this country (China). Now that reliance was being threatened by a change in leadership in America which was a major consumer of those products , When Americans hailed the leaders decision to make many of them in their country. Worse yet opponents to the Chinese regime in power had its citizens protesting its policies since that change in American leadership wave the American flag and present his name when doing so. All of which presented those in power the need to destroy that leader,

Would a runaway plague created by a nation which could threaten populations of an enemy cause them to react by demanding extreme restriction of movement by its population to prevent its spread ? Thus wind up fragmenting its economy.
The way this whole thing developed starting with the Italian fashion industry areas controlled by the Chinese commies hit by a runaway CoVid19. Sure looks suspicious particularly when crews of naval vessels somehow wind up being infected by it.

It is from Falun Gong. And yes, Falun Gong does get into occultic weirdness and mysticism. However, it does have sources inside China.
Consider it like an underground in an occupied country during WWII, which is not pro-allied, but still can sometimes be a useful source of information.

Just remember to use discern wisely.

There is no such thing as an unbiased source. The entire concept is a complete fiction, one that had its genesis in the development of the wire services in the late 1800s. So it goes back to the literal dawn of telecom.
