important, we are learning now that we are (have been) dangerously overdependent on foreigners in supply chain. need: strong borders, buy american, make american. going forward, need to implement this. deregulate, facilitate, innovate.
Press complains that government is not controlling distribution of PPE and equipment, and cities and hospitals aren’t getting supplies. The admiral says the current system is such that the private sector receives the materials, has multitude of warehouses, trucks, etc. Does not want to disrupt the current supply chain.
Press won’t accept that, says it goes to the highest bidder, including overseas, and not to where it’s needed in the US. Administration says it is addressing these and cracking down on hoarders, bidders and black marketeers with these new production and executive orders. NYC will get dozens of pallets of masks and other PPE tomorrow, trucks being loaded tonight.

sometimes imho the problem is denial of admittance— some screeners just did not want pneumonia victims until it was too late and they needed intubation (which is to say, in many cases, until it became fatal).
