Late month, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer issued an order like so many other governors that bans non-essential medical procedures in order to conserve medical resources and personal protective gear to help combat COVID-19. But the Democrat governor allowed non-essential abortions to continue.
Gov. Whitmers order defines an essential procedure as one that is necessary to address a medical emergency or to preserve the health and safety of a patient. According to a study from the pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute, 96% of women having abortions cited reasons other than their physical health as their most important reason for seeking an abortion.
Abortion procedures require the use of personal protective equipment like other now-forbidden medical procedures. Medical personnel handling coronavirus patients will not be able to use those scarce resources.
Meanwhile, abortions can require follow-up surgical procedures or emergency room visits. Use of the abortion pill often results in complications such as excessive bleeding requiring visits to a doctors office. Patients and staff inside abortion facilities increases the likelihood of coronavirus spreading from close contact.
All this is prompting pro-life groups to step up their criticism of Governor Whitmer.
Today the national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List called out Democratic Governor Gretchen Whitmer for requiring Michiganders to postpone or forego important medical procedures including cancer, pediatric, cardiac and spinal surgeries, while elective abortions are allowed to proceed and take up valuable resources needed to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
Governor Whitmer requires Michiganders to delay important medical procedures deemed non-essential, and yet allows elective abortions to continue, said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. Right now, we need to devote all of our resources to fighting this pandemic so that the most vulnerable can survive. Abortion is an elective procedure that ends the life of an innocent human being and diverts critical personal protective equipment (PPE) away from our health care workers who are on the front lines. Governor Whitmer should end these unnecessary procedures that further strain our health care system, and abortion businesses in the state should cooperate.
Michigan Right to Life has also demanded that Governor Whitmer stop all elective abortions in the state so that scarce PPE is available to health care workers during the pandemic.
Michigan abortion facilities are using up surgical masks to take the lives of innocent babies, said Barbara Listing, president of Michigan Right to Life. How many doctors and nurses treating coronavirus patients will go without proper protection because of that? How many of those medical personnel will contract the virus? Its time for Governor Whitmer to prove she can put public health above her ideology.
Were seeing a pattern of pro-abortion elected officials putting ideology first, and people at risk of the coronavirus second, Listing said. Federal coronavirus relief was held up in part because of demands for small business assistance for Planned Parenthood, which has an annual budget of more than a billion dollars. Right to Life of Michigan is abiding by Gov. Whitmers order. Its time for Gov. Whitmer to prove she can put public health above her ideology, because Planned Parenthood is incapable of being responsible, even during a global pandemic.
Listing added, The vast majority of abortions are performed for economic or social reasons. Right now, people with legitimate medical needs are suffering in pain. Were postponing hip replacements or fixing cracked teeth to ensure our front-line doctors and nurses are equipped. These procedures in many cases will be more burdensome and expensive for people in need because they had to wait. Why arent we treating them fairly? Why should abortion facilities get to be above the law?
ACTION ALERT: Those wishing to call Governor Whitmer to urge her to treat abortion facilities like other outpatient surgical facilities can call her Lansing office at (517) 373-3400.
How many of their patients?
Do they screen their patients or workers for the virus or the symptoms?
WHY DON'T WE HAVE THIS DATA?!?!?!
Well, she has to pander to the liberals .
It’s not pandering when you believe in it.
Excellent questions.
Religious gatherings are strictly banned, specifically, in Michigan (and other places like NY). Double standard, of course.
I’m wondering too!!! And yes I’m not done posting.
She won by 10 points, the Rs need a stronger candidate. Both houses of the legislature have a slim R majority.
More than believe in it, its a sacrament to the libs.
She won by 10 points, the Rs need a stronger candidate.”
As I have said the rats got 4 high Dem turnout props on the 11/18 ballot. The rats have mastered this trick. The GOP SOS could have put them on the August Primary ballot but the GOP has a tradition of bringing marshmallows to a gun fight.
As a result the rats flipped the Governor, AG and the SOS seats.
The worship of the abortion god, Molech, MUST continue unabated and no matter what because it’s the only hope for the survival of the devil worshippers!!!
They do love death.
Governor “Rose from 2 1/2 Men” is CRA-CRA!

When does it become abusive, admin?
She’s a dumb ass, and now a famous one.
She’s banned open fires (even in a fire pot) and closed public boat launches state-wide.
Cant even go fishing alone. Will she ban boating by lakefront homeowners? If it goes into June, will she ban some/all swimming?
Next...is mosquito transmission possible?
.
