The Associated Press reported in 2017 that WHO routinely has spent about $200 million a year on travel expenses, more than what it doles out to fight some of the biggest problems in public health, including AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria combined.
The organization has only barely cut its travel spending since then.
Travel expenses dropped by just one percent between 2017 and 2018, according to WHOs report.

Its called living high off the hog.
Let’s guess, “travel expenses” also includes lots of fine food and drinks, correct?
And a lot of the travel just happens to be to exotic locations, right?
It’s not to hard to figure out what the WHO is really all about. Certainly not competence.
Just like the UN, the EU, the gazillion Climate Change Conferences, Congressional Junkets with a couple hundred people
That's better than the Clinton Foundation was at delivering services and goods.
they are inner party oligarchs, they deserve it
too bad, so sad.
Another organization that needs to die.
Actually kind of a shame; back in the 60’s and 70’s the WHO was quite an estimable organization.
You know, back before they just turned into another “one world” UN type of Communist organisation.
Like so many high-minded organizations, they center around a cause...until the organization becomes the “cause”.
I hope that on November 4, 2020, after President Trump is re-elected in the biggest landslide in American History, that he announces that the USA will quit EVERY International body!
The US is the Big Dog, and by golly, we ought to make the rules!
US has been screwed by these “International Do-Gooders” for long enough!
GET THE US OUT OF THE UN AND THE UN OUT OF THE US!
Maybe. But we don’t know how much of those “medical supplies” were for staff members. I’d want to see the invoices and shipping destinations before believing they went to a worthy cause.
Dump the WHO
AGREE! Shut it Down!
I have never thought of WHO as a major medical supply outfit. I have seen it more as an international clearing house of information and policies related to “global” health issues. As such, I think of it more as a coordinator than a doer. A coordinator has an agenda that is more meetings than actions; most of the actions are within the member states than from WHO.
“That said, WHO is still a fully corrupt/wasteful organization”
No argument there. Any thought of the post-WWII international agencies serving true western interests - UN, ect. - ended with the inclusion of dictatorships as members in those organizations. Being a member should have been a priviledge earned that included the form of government of the member, not “universal” membership.
I have thought since the GWBush era that the U.S. should leave all the current international agencies, and however possible start news ones that include only representative democracies. There charters must include the recognition that they have no ambitions of being a world government. They exist only as coordinating bodies for specific (not general) actions the member states agree to take specific actions on for limited purposes, on a voluntary basis; they do not comprise any other additional treaties for anything else; they do not comprise authority over the member states; all actions they coordinate are by consent or consensus.
