New information from the IRS on Monday shines more light on what people can do to get their checks from the government as quickly as possible while many families worry about paying the bills and buying food during the coronavirus crisis, which has cost millions of people their jobs.
For Americans eligible for stimulus cash under the new relief law, the fastest way to receive it is to make sure they've filed a tax return for 2019 or 2018 with bank information so the government can deposit the money directly.

Thank you for that info.
Thank you vm.
10-4 :)
PS You may have seen it - but it was clarified this evening by Mnuchin that, in fact, SS recipients will get a check whether or not they filed income tax forms.
Does this mean we will have TWO Buy-A-Gun-Days this year?

So how does this work for someone who had a kid recently? Say 2018 shows no dependents, and 2019 hasn’t been filed yet? Or 2019/2020? Do you get the first check for the parents, and then the kid’s $500 check will come later? Or do they mark your accounts already paid off, so you’ll never get the $500 for the kiddo?
Check with your local IRS office. You pose a very good question. Similar to folks that have moved or changed banks sine they filed their 2029 taxes.
