Pelosi Describes Bill #4: Family Leave, More Direct Payments, Infrastructure, OSHA Rules

And what would be in this next bill?

Pelosi mentioned "more direct payments," even "larger" than the $1,200 already on the way to Americans impacted by government directives to shut down the U.S. economy. She also mentioned the "endless" need for more personal protective equipment.

She wants Congress to pass an "emergency" OSHA standard protecting frontline workers from airborne infectious diseases. The OSHA regulation would require employers to implement protective measures for at-risk workers, including TSA workers, direct-care workers, first responders, pharmacists, grocery store workers and other employees at "essential" places that remain open during health emergencies.

Pelosi also mentioned "infrastructure needs." "Many more people are either teleworking or tele-education or really communicating with family and friends from home," Pelosi said, calling for "broadband" and "grid" improvements.

And, will the senate do 96-0 on this one? Surely they'll be vigilant for anything not necessary right? Just like the last one. I know, it "had" to be done to get it to the people. Right? Gotta pass it to see what's in it.

Why not, since most here on FR are falling for the hysteria? Lets just keep printing money and rules which will totally kill the economy forever and usher in a socialist state.

The president just tweeted that he wants a $2 trillion infrastructure bill, so apparently he’s in agreement with Nanzi here.

It’s only (created out of thin air) money, so why not?

She's pissing in the wind. This thing is DOA and she knows it.

She's just building another hammer to wield against Trump.

No. Stop.

We’re done.

If we haven’t peaked by the end of April WE NEVER will and sticking our heads in the sand for another day, week, month or year will solve nothing.

It’s time to man up.

Trump would veto this nonsense, but I worry about the GOP. Congress might be veto-proof at this time.

Trump said any bill must be solely related to infrastructure jobs. We. Must hold Trump accountable. He must pledge that he will not sign ANY bill with even a fraction of an ounce of pork.

Dear Nancy. You are irrelevant, with the exception of the damage you can do. Please just quit.

Honestly these people are insane. I am for helping people in this time of need but if they do not address the small business community giving out free money to individuals would simply create a perpetual dependent class. What people need are jobs. But there are going to be millions of small businesses that will close because they have very little income and lots of bills to pay.

A top down indirect subsidy is the best way out. Do a 90-120 “rent and mortgage forgiveness plan” which would cover the losses of the lenders holding the mortgages, who then forgive the mortgagee, who then forgives the renter. It is faster and accomplishes the result we need. People who own property outright can also apply for lost income.

It would be a much smaller universe of applicants who actually need a bailout, as the banks and large REITs and landlords can run fairly quick reports showing their losses for this period. So they can get covered quickly. Expecting all these business to apply for SBA loans, with all the strings attached, is simply not going to work. It will take way too long. It is too much risk to take on debt, with too much uncertainty about the economic recovery, and why would they hire back 90% of their employees when there is little to no work to be done and they have to cover their overhead expenses out of pocket.

Not to mention, how the heck are the banks and the SBA going to process all this paperwork and deliver the money? It will take years, and the banks are operating on a social distance policy making it difficult to even conduct routine business banking.

Trump knows this. Landlords will be in the pinch. If business don’t pay rent, they could evict them... but good luck finding a new tenant. Congress and the POTUS are way off the mark with these complex plans. They need a simple plan that keeps businesses open so we can get back to business when we’re on the other side of this.

Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump
With interest rates for the United States being at ZERO, this is the time to do our decades long awaited Infrastructure Bill. It should be VERY BIG & BOLD, Two Trillion Dollars, and be focused solely on jobs and rebuilding the once great infrastructure of our Country! Phase 4

Pelosi would do less damage if she went back to ripping up speeches and running another Impeachment.

And Trump wants a $2 Trillion infrastructure boondoggle. Here’s hoping this one ends up in gridlock and goes nowhere.

NO! No more trillions that we don’t have. Where is that famous Republican concern for the debt? Right next to the concern for a Fair Tax.
