Update: Massie said on Twitter Friday that he will seek a roll call vote on the stimulus package. Earlier: WASHINGTON U.S. Representative Thomas Massie enraged President Donald Trump on Friday as he has leaders of Congress worried he will delay a planned Friday voice vote on a $2.2 trillion coronavirus economic rescue plan, drawing calls from the White House to throw him out of the Republican Party.

Lol
$2.2 Trillion dollars I want a vote of record.
DesertRhino: “ 2.2 and loaded with billions for Democrat projects to foster illegal voting, dump boatloads of money on Africa, billions for refugee resettlement with no time limit.”
The checks going out are Chump Change compare to the billions being wasted.
This is not a bail out bill, this is a destroy America’s future bill
Ron Paul’s heir apparent.
I think the flip side of this is that it forces a lot of Democrats to vote against this bill just to satisfy their special-interest supporters.
Exactly.
It would show that a quorum is not present.
That’s nice. Replace with someone who will go along with the crowd on abortion, gun control, illegals etc.
Every time we are told it is a “must” vote, it isn’t a must vote. Like Trumpcare for example. We are better off without it.
Too many booger eating morons on this site at times. Will their egos and pride allow them humility when this all goes south because of debt and inflation?
He says if the 2 trillion went to 250 million workers they would get 13,000 each. He’s got a point there.
and plus there’s a tremendous amount of stuff that pelosi wanted in there. That’s not good.
Either way I don’t see how adding six trillion after all is said and done to the debt is a good idea
“...without even allowing a token voice of dissent to be recorded in the congressional record, whats the point of a legislature?”
Yes, as we edge closer and closer to some sort of enabling act completely bypassing them. We have Trump now, but in 1 or 4 years, probably we will probably get a Democrat white House and crap like this further paves the way for them to claim “emergency powers”.
We are living in about 1930, and Hitler is an unknown democratic party member out there...somewhere.
I have no problem with a roll call vote. I strongly prefer it, actually.
what’s the big deal?
Its a dumb shit bill. I applaud him.
Why...because he wants Congress on record for this trainwreck??
I don’t think Trump is that stupid, but perhaps he has been fooling all his supporters.
He should be given a tour of his new office in the dirtiest dumpster that can be found.
How this is lost on some on FR is beyond me.
I just wish it could roll call for Dems only since they are the ones who put all the cRap in the bill.
Giving millions billions 2 illegals and I’m not getting a check as an American
strongly agree.
too important a decision to make with just ambient chamber noise..
Massies statement reads in full:
I swore an oath to uphold the constitution, and I take that oath seriously. In a few moments I will request a vote on the CARES Act which means members of Congress will vote on it by pushing yes or no or present.
The Constitution requires that a quorum of members be present to conduct business in the House. Right now, millions of essential, working-class Americans are still required to go to work during this pandemic such as manufacturing line workers, healthcare professionals, pilots, grocery clerks, cooks/chefs, delivery drivers, auto mechanics, and janitors (to name just a few). Is it too much to ask that the House do its job, just like the Senate did?
I am not delaying the bill like Nancy Pelosi did last week. The bill that was worked on in the Senate late last week was much better before Speaker Pelosi showed up to destroy it and add days and days to the process.
This bill should have been voted on much sooner in both the Senate and House and it shouldnt be stuffed full of Nancy Pelosis pork including $25 million for the Kennedy Center, grants for the National Endowment for the Humanities and Arts, and millions more other measures that have no direct relation to the Coronavirus Pandemic.
That $25 million, for example, should go directly to purchasing test kits. The number one priority of this bill should have been to expand testing availability and creation of tests so that every American, not just the wealthy and privileged, have access to testing. We have shut down the worlds economy without adequate data. Everyone, even those with no symptoms, needs immediate access to a test. This bill creates even more secrecy around a Federal Reserve that still refuses to be audited. It allows the Federal Reserve to make decisions about who gets what, how much money well print. With no transparency.
If getting us into $6 trillion more debt doesnt matter, then why are we not getting $350 trillion more in debt so that we can give a check of $1 million to every person in the country?
This stimulus should go straight to the people rather than being funneled through banks and corporations like this bill is doing. 2 trillion divided by 150 million workers is about $13,333.00 per person. Thats much more than the $1,200 per person check authorized by this bill.

Good luck winning any future elections without conservatives.
