I am an ER MD in New Orleans. Class of 98. Every one of my colleagues have now seen several hundred Covid 19 patients and this is what I think I know.

"Clinical course is predictable. 2-11 days after exposure (day 5 on average) flu like symptoms start. Common are fever, headache, dry cough, myalgias(back pain), nausea without vomiting, abdominal discomfort with some diarrhea, loss of smell, anorexia, fatigue.

Day 5 of symptoms- increased SOB, and bilateral viral pneumonia from direct viral damage to lung parenchyma.

Day 10- Cytokine storm leading to acute ARDS and multiorgan failure. You can literally watch it happen in a matter of hours.

81% mild symptoms, 14% severe symptoms requiring hospitalization, 5% critical."

I didn’t suggest it is. I am saying this family of viruses had a reputation for “no clinical significance”. That’s what makes t his all so startling.

I am not a doctor. But I had kids. I had parents.

Tylenol was always for fever and headache. Ibuprofen was for muscle aches and anti inflammatory issues. Aspirin was for heart stuff and NEVER kids.

Has that changed?

Governors are banning the use of it. The whole thing is puzzling

Don't want to have people eating fish tank cleaner. :)

My guess is this is a paramedic, EMT or med student. It has a “Reddit” smell to it.

I think you called it.

I apologize. I was being sarcastic and it was not clear.

I think this could get pretty nasty in some places.

“Question: How many undiagnosed have gotten it and stayed home until they were better and only had mild to moderate symptoms?”

The distribution of case severities has been well determined by exhaustive contact tracing and “controlled” situations like the Diamond Princess. About 80% mild or asymptomatic, 20% serious or critical. About 55% asymptomatic, 25% mild, 15% serious and 5% critical if you want it broken down fully. Some of the less severe cases progress in severity over time rather than always being mild or always being asymptomatic. All of the preceding numbers are +/- to some extent.

However, if you are hoping for some herd of asymptomatic infected out there to dilute the severity and mortality rates, they don’t exist - except in places like NYC, Iran, Wuhan, LA and other places where there is widespread and largely uncontrolled community transmission and they don’t actually know who or how many people have it. You can project the numbers working backwards if you know how many serious cases you have. But they are largely not sharing accurate numbers in any of those places. For some reason.

If there were, hotspots would be popping up all over the US instead of primarily in large, densely populated areas, as asymptomatic individuals can still be contagious.

…"reason for use of Zithromax..."

I believe that they think there is a synergistic effect with the CQ. Have you heard anything about that or how such a thing would even theoretically work chemically?

That doctor misinterprets the reason for use of Zithromax. It actually has unique (among antibiotics) direct anti-viral action

Thank you - I couldn't understand the reason for Zithromax.

>>> I’m bringing this over from another thread that I posted to... it is my best answer to the flu bros. contentions. <<<

That the death rate remains LOW, except for the LETHAL hot spots,

(bang- you’re dead, you’re dead, you’re dead, you’re dead, you’re dead, you’re dead, you’re dead, you’re dead, you’re dead, you’re dead, you’re dead, you’re dead, and... bang- you’re dead)

is a testament to the UNPRECEDENTED mitigation efforts underway WORLDWIDE.

The flu bros NEVER mention this extremely CRITICAL factor in their rationale.

Latest unprecedented mitigation effort: India, THE ENTIRE NATION, with 1.5 billion people, are under orders to shelter at home for 21 consecutive days. It’s just the flu?

Anectodal.

Seeing reports warning about it from medical people

The first thing I look for in patients telling their stories is whether they took it.

39 year fitness person in UK that took the video in hospital

younger- another one -Motrin
younger - another on- Advil

etc

probably for the aches and pains

Treating with VitC in NY hospitals. The doses are too low, but that is typical for conventional medicine, who seem to try to sabotage anything cheap and natural.

People with pre-existing conditions, smokers, people who eat crap diets, people who pop too many pain killers are at higher risk of lung damage.

“I wouldn’t go to the ER right now if I got shot as long as the bullet passed clean through.”

Is that, like, reverse triage? “No, no. I don’t need a doctor. I’m feeling much better!”

;)
