Sort of.... The drug actually works to slow down a body’s immune response. Older people have a much more sophisticated immune response that over-performs and damages the lungs.

So this drug affects people very differently. Some will benefit, some will suffer harm, depends on age and unknown immune responses in each person.

That’s the reason for the caution, we need large scale studies to know what dosage, with what other drugs, for which people to treat effectively. There are some nasty side effects, like blindness.
