trump is between a rock and a hard place, but there is no other i would want in the lead. return to normalcy, protect those in need of protection, allow for the people to build up antibodies to fight this virus in the future.

the media will moan and lie, people will die... they die all the time from other things as well.

My Mother is not expendable day the people who would euthanize their parents in a heart beat if caring for them became an inconvenience.

'My mother is not expendable”

But the unborn are, right? Even a hypocrite should see the nonsense in that statement.

In another week or so, lots of people will HAVE to go back out as they run low on groceries. what’s to keep the virus from spreading at that point?

We can’t hide from this forever.

Trump’s target date is more than two weeks out. What is the problem with this? And, yes, if it turns out that more quarantine is needed, do it. But it is right and meaningful to try and put a return-to-work date on everything. Trump needs to explain this this way!!!

I am in the virus target of 80 with a cardiac history. I’ll take my chances and have before I stay hunkered down for Cuomo’s time schedule. 2 weeks is fine but 2 months will kill the economy for years to come, and my retirement will be devastated,

Societies act in the interest of the entire society NOT individuals.

I’m a senior and I’m among the many of us who consider this lockdown to be ridiculous. A large part of the flu deaths every year are the same groups they are concerned about with CV.

If this current zombie apocalypse had not come along they would not have given a rat’s ass about any of us in the “at risk” groups to protect us from the flu or its many strains.

A robust economy is more important to all than a blanket quarantine. Take measures on a small scale where and among groups where measures are needed. If the economy crashes then the aged and infirm will be the most affected since many of us are on a limited income.

Grandma will be taken care of but right now this grandpa needs to get ready to go to my office and carry on. A pox on all of the promoters of this march madness panic.

No example drew more attention than an interview that Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, a Republican, gave Monday night on Fox News, in which he suggested that some elderly Americans - the group most at risk of death from COVID-19 - should be willing to sacrifice their lives so the economy can gain steam.

"No one reached out to me and said, 'As a senior citizen, are you willing to take a chance on your survival in exchange for keeping the America that all America loves for its children and grandchildren?' And if that is the exchange, I'm all in," said Patrick, 70.

Right before our eyes, “take a chance” to preserve our way of life—basically the same thing everyone who ever put on a military uniform does— becomes “sacrifice their lives so the economy can gain steam.” Truly shameless.

Testing and treatment, with an emphasis on testing is the key to making the transition work. The South Korean model is the most successful in this regard.

Physicians have one goal in life...saving lives. The President must have two equally important goals...saving lives and saving the economy. It's a difficult balancing act but I have confidence that he'll do it properly.

And I say that as one who clearly recalls dial telephones, black and white TV and 25 cent a gallon gas.

You read about how many people die a year from the flu,car accidents, how about how many babies are murdered Of course democrats are always the ones who want to regulate, tax the first two,but will fund the third with 10s of millions of dollars, now all of a sudden they slam a President who is working around the clock to provide equipment that was NOT replenished by the same people slamming him for years!

Letting those who can safely work while practicing social distancing and being careful around the elderly and those with compromised immune systems are not mutually exclusive. Gov. Patrick has a flawed argument meant for political gain. His type are the enemies of the American people in this time. He is free to say what he wants and we are free to regard him as a selfish opportunist. May his tribe decrease!

I thought that socialists/communists believe that individuals are expendable for the greater good of society.

That must be only when the sacrificial lambs are not them and theirs.

The media couldn’t have given a hoot that Obama did nothing to protect the elderly during the swine flu outbreak.

Then quarantine her for the duration. STAY AWAY from her. Keep her away from EVERYONE. NO PERSONAL CONTACT. Have a prescription for chloroquine and Zithromax Z-Pak at the ready.

Should we keep the entire economy shut down for your mother?

Take some PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY.

I know, people are selfish. Let someone ELSE do it for me.

"Andrew Cuomo pushed back against Patrick's sentiment, saying, "My mother is not expendable."

Did you support obamacare, andrew? Did the drugstore run out of aspirin?
