Dr. Anthony Fauci's interview with Science magazine began on an inauspicious note. Asked how he's doing right now, Fauci said he was "exhausted" but "good." "I mean, I'm not, to my knowledge, coronavirus-infected," he said, before adding with a laugh: "To my knowledge, I haven't been fired."
What followed were several exchanges that should help people take stock of President Donald Trump's response to the coronavirus. Repeatedly, Fauci tacitly and even openly admitted that comments made by the commander in chief are not true and are not in line with what the nation's leading infectious disease expert is advising.
The interviewer, Jon Cohen, asked whether Fauci would acknowledge that Trump says things he disagrees with, and Fauci seemed to grant the premise. Fauci maintained that, "I don't disagree on the substance" - but then added: "It is expressed in a way that I would not express it, because it could lead to some misunderstanding about what the facts are about a given subject."
The exchange highlights the mixed messages the country has been getting in recent days, in particular, about the promise of certain drugs to treat coronavirus. While Fauci has warned that evidence of the drugs' effectiveness is "anecdotal" and that there is no "magic drug" to treat coronavirus, Trump said Friday that he "disagreed" with Fauci, at least in part, and has repeatedly hailed a malaria drug in particular as a possible "game-changer."
Asked about the White House holding crowded events like a Rose Garden news conference in which Trump was shaking hands with people, Fauci admitted he has repeatedly advised against it. "I keep saying, is there any way we can get a virtual news conference. Thus far, no," Fauci said. "I'm trying my best. I cannot do the impossible."

Then it's not wrong.
Trump needs to fire Fauci immediately. This is a time for loyalty, not backstabbing and undermining.
Anthony Fauci’s job is medical care in a pandemic ... Trump’s job is that plus the 8,000 other things necessary to keep the country safe, prosperous, healthy, competitive, lawful, civil, ‘on track’, and yes, great.

"Directing institutions" is a figure of speech, kiddo.
You may need to go find little Fauci's motorcycle.
Andrew Gillum?
Your words are wise (and so are your mother's).
Be well ..........
“Some of the doctors out there would want me to shut down the country for one or two yeats.”
Trump last night
Fauci seemed upset that some old drug at the cost of an aspirin may be a substitute for a new and improved and very expensive “drug”
Im sure Fauci also speaks mercan at home.
Youre sure about that? Im not. I think Fauci speaks doctortalk at home, too. Think Sheldon Cooper.
I bet he is insufferable at home.
Many of our scientists suffer from what I call Jor-El syndrome. You could have saved yourselves if only you had listened to ME!
Trump speaks to hope.

That's nice but is a lot too simple.
Are you saying Trump disregards facts?
Are you saying Fauci doesn't continually preen for attention?
Look at what he says with that in mind.
Saying these old drugs may be a game changer...is a good example of him pondering.
Nope, to both questions...
Huh?
No. Ffauci and other scientists are too trained in black and white and never took a history or philosophy class, leading them to have major blind spots. Fauci should be shoved aside and monitored so he does no further harm.
Fauci maintained that, “I don’t disagree on the substance” - but then added: “It is expressed in a way that I would not express it
________
LOL .... well said.

From CTH: "I knew there was something sketchy about Dr. Anthony Fauci. Within the WikiLeaks HRC email files there are letters from Fauci to Hillary Clinton through her aid/lawyer Cheryl Mills: rarely does a speech bring me to tears?
please tell her I love her more than ever?
please tell her that we all love her
Please tell her that we all love her and are very proud to know her."
Team building and sustaining the team concept is a shockingly fragile thing. “1000 at-a-boyz all gone with 1 aw-shat”
I guess Fauci never served in any armed force.
Fauci is a tried and true member of the old, long-established, corrupt medical big pharma bureaucracy that crushes every hopeful breakthrough by smaller lab researchers with endless years of high cost regulations that only the large pharmaceuticals can afford, after 20 years jumping through regulatory hoops to get it to market. I remember in the early 1960’s the American Cancer Society had a fundraising ad that showed a clock at 5 minutes to midnight with the title “We’re this close to a cure!” That was over a half century ago!
Be it cancer or the Chi-Com Virus, Trump has given terminal patients the right to try experimental treatments that have been long denied those who have up to now been given no hope. And without hope we have nothing. In this crises, Trump is bringing hope to America. And the constantly pessimistic swap rat Fauci hates that.
“Is he right”
To date and given the ever increasing numbers of positive results from anecdotal useage of the meds the prez has spoken of (including the French testing released yesterday) I would say Fauci is dead wrong about the ability of these drugs to mitigate Chinese virus effects.
Of course he is free to disagree with its use because he claims a proper study has yet to be done while at the same time he will not speak negatively against the massive use of the drugs starting today in NY.
Fauci has been rightfully put in the back row for his publicly criticizind his boss. He had ample opportunity to have his say with Trump and yet because he didn’t get his way his career in government is all but finished.
