Former Vice President Joe Biden on Monday accused President Trump of dithering in the early days of the coronavirus, saying that a “failure of planning and preparation” by the White House has worsened the health and economic crises the nation faces. Speaking from a makeshift studio at his home in Delaware, Biden made his first public remarks about the coronavirus in nearly a week, addressing concerns from some on the left that he has been ceding the spotlight to Trump.
“My point is not simply that the president was wrong,” Biden continued. “My point is that the mindset that was slow to recognize the problem in the first place, to treat it with a seriousness it deserved, is still too much a part of how the president is addressing the problem.” Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar declared the coronavirus a public health emergency on Jan. 31, 10 days after the first case appeared in the U.S.
The former vice president accused the Trump administration of ignoring early warning signs about the pandemic and of downplaying the disease at critical points when the virus was primarily concentrated in China. “For too long, the warning signs were ignored,” Biden said. “For too long, the administration said the threats were under control, contained, or like the flu. The president said no one saw this coming. That’s just not accurate. Our intelligence officials were warning about the coronavirus threat in January. Just based on public information I had, I warned the threat was getting worse way back on January 27.”
Let’s be honest. Did CDC and other fed agencies adequately plan and strategize to meet this kind of crisis? US does war planning for infinite scenarios of possible outbreaks overseas. Was it impossible to game plan for epidemics and to foresee a need for a streamlined testing-development process, and to stock crisis-levels of hospital equipment and ventilators. Was such a scenario beyond anyone’s imagination, and impossible to game-plan for?
He says not to lay blame, then blames the President; he says what needs to happen, while ignoring President already has or is making all of what he said happen; then the teleprompter gives out for a few seconds at the ten minute mark.
Biden was instrumental in allowing or directing the CDC to work on gun control and social justice, instead of preparing for a pandemic. The current administration was sabotaged by Biden, so he could complain about it.
Trump stopped flights from China in January. Biden called him a racist for doing so. The Democrats ignored the warning signs and said that the flight stoppage was unnecessary.
more like all of January and until the vote on Feb. 6. Dems should feel completely ashamed about this, but I know that they won't. Only a man as capable as Trump (is there another?) of keeping his head during a time of enormous stress and continuing to watch out for the American people would have felt confident enough to stop people coming from Chine near the end of January.
It is already being attack-reported that Trump didn't stop flights from China. More dishonesty by bias and omission. Flights could still come but non-American citizens or permanent residents who had been in China in the previous 14 days could enter the USA. This saved countless lives in the USA.

Every time Biden says “Trump” in his rant, you should read “NIH/CDC/FDA” and yes, Trump should have fired the heads of all three agencies. They have done so much “social” engineering crap the last ten years and failed at what their primary purposes should be, like preparing for “pandemics”.

Can Vice President Biden answer why he and President Obama did not reform and update the USA’s pandemic response in 2012-2015 like South Korea did?
