Gov. J.B. Pritzker sparked a Twitter spat with President Donald Trump Sunday morning after the governor claimed that the lack of federal action has made it harder and costlier for Illinois to fight the coronavirus outbreak.
The flare-up began after Pritzker told CNN’s “State of the Union with Jake Tapper” that the White House should issue a nationwide shelter-in-place order as the number of cases soar, and complained that the lack of federal initiative has forced Illinois to pay more for crucial supplies as they compete with other states.
“This should’ve been a coordinated effort by the federal government," Pritzker said. “So, yes, we’re competing against each other, we’re competing against other countries. It’s a ... wild west out there and, indeed, we’re overpaying, I would say, for PPE (personal protective equipment) because of that competition.”
Trump shot back with a tweet dismissing the criticism of his efforts as “Fake News.”
“Governor of Illinois, and a very small group of certain other Governors, together with Fake News @CNN & Concast (MSDNC), shouldn’t be blaming the Federal Government for their own shortcomings,” he tweeted. “We are there to back you up should you fail, and always will be!”

As for further preparations, the Democrats orchestrated an impeachment farce that may have occupied more than a little of the President's time.
Illinois is saddled with a partisan hack governor at the worst possible time. It would be a blessing if Pritzker limited his panic peddling press conferences.

Completely agree. The governor is still a tax cheat in my eyes and now he’s a partisan goof not knowing what’s good for the people of Illinois to seek cooperation with President Trump as Governor Newsom did.
I am so happy that Trump is making it clear to the states that they are responsible for their states and aren't entitled to Fed resources simply because they want them. Without spouting philosophy, he is teaching the country a little lesson about what our founders intended.
I get it I get it, it's a small thing compared to the 4 trillion dollars we're about to print. But only looking at this little thing, it is a very good thing.

It will be interesting to see how many persons were exposed to COVID-19 during the Illinois primary that Pritzker refused to postpone despite requests to do so.
