Traffic to airports inside New York ARTCC airspace is being held at their origin due to “staffing issues”. Flights already in the air are continuing if able or diverting. TRACON controllers are now managing some traffic.

Last flight from JFK seems to be a Delta Flight 797 (for Austin, TX) about 7 minutes ago).
Well, that’s not good, although probably well overdue.

I use the Plane Finder app a lot to see where the planes going over my head are going to. I'm kind of a geek about that.
The issue appears to be staffing at the ARTCC, the air traffic enroute control facility.

Where’s the largely unaffected regions? Places where you rednecks can’t spell the virus name and your hospital is a barn and test kits are used to see if one got their sister pregnant? :)
