Why there will soon be tons of toilet paper, and what food may be scarce, according to supply chain experts

Stuck rationing toilet paper because you didn't stockpile during the coronavirus panic over the last few days? Don't worry, according to supply chain experts.

"All the grocery stores are going to have pallets of toilet paper sitting in the aisles and nobody is going to buy it because who needs to buy toilet paper when you got a year's worth sitting in your garage," Daniel Stanton, a supply chain expert and author of "Supply Chain Management for Dummies," tells CNBC Make It. But what about food? Even if the COVID-19 pandemic stretches over months (President Donald Trump said it could last until August), there will no big food shortages, especially on staples like milk, eggs, cheese, bread and meat, according to three supply chain experts who spoke to Make It.

I just buy the cheap hamburger. The hamburger that is labeled CAB tastes weird, almost like it’s artificially made or something.

If at all possible to get farm fresh eggs, eggs will last in a decently cold fridge for months.

Eggs keep far longer than most people realize.

The run on eggs could have been caused by my son.

He just learned how to make eggs for himself and he’s feasting on them daily.

And if you have a questionable egg you can do a simple float test.

Why would a woman want her eggs coated with caster oil?

Haha.. To fend off menopause?

I’ve seen runs on pasta, rice, and bacon.

Pasta and rice makes at least some sense. They both store well, and you can use them with a lot of stuff.

TP is scarce locally and I saw a run on canned soup in a certain Big Box store that hasn't been reflected so far in the usual grocery stores. This is mostly silliness, IMHO, but if you're truly out of TP it lends a certain, ah, urgency to the matter that wouldn't normally be there. But in defense of people doing the "panic" buying, much of this hysteria isn't anxiety so much as it is people's desires to do something about the thing, anything, and it sure beats watching them sit like baby birds with their beaks open waiting for Momma and Poppa Government to feed them. There will be plenty of that for a while.

This "cooking" business everyone is talking about, though - is that what those circular metal objects in my cupboard are supposed to be used for? They don't seem to fit in the microwave...

. . . Give us this day our daily bread. . . . the people of our nation have an astounding lack of faith

Are you expecting manna perhaps?

Otherwise, God has given you the means to procure it. If you don't then you can't blame Him.

“Internet get overloaded” — everybody watching videos online while “sheltering in place”

Which is why I like DVD's and a DVD player, as outdated as that has allegedly become.

People are too dependent on something as fragile as the internet.

I have heard that you can coat the eggs with mineral oil and get longer shelf life...
