Scientists and government officials fighting the coronavirus epidemic say they have a problem: Carefree youths. As authorities moved to restrict social gatherings last week, bars and restaurants from New York to Berlin filled up with revelers, illegal “lockdown parties” popped up in France and Belgium, and campuses in the U.S. lit up for end-of-the-world dorm parties. So far, most young Covid-19 patients have experienced mild or no symptoms from the virus, while more severe cases are concentrated among those aged 50 and over. Data released last week by the National Health Institute in Italy, currently the world’s worst-hit country, shows mortality rates starting at 0% for patients aged 0 to 29 and edging up to peak at 19% for those over 90. Yet scientists say tests have shown children and young adults are no less likely than older people to get infected and transmit the virus. Epidemiologists are growing concerned that the millennial pushback against social-distancing measures—and an emerging generational divide about how the disease is perceived—could undo all efforts to slow the spread of the virus and put vulnerable people at high risk.

I’m starting to think that the investors who are doing the manipulation of the markets exacerbating it with stories of increased cases, and I also think that eugenicists like Bill Gates and others are involved in this too which is causing us to have now what looks like the young versus the old. I believe that also is done on purpose. His so-called virus is just an amazing tool at the left is using in so many ways.
Whenever I see a story that has three authors they have the same pattern they have one nugget a truth which is an anecdote. Then they include an element of projection where that anecdotal story they project to happen for the rest of the society and then the rest of the story is All fear-mongering and these stories I am convinced are planted to cause panic and more Panic. They have three authors because that will add the Creedence that they want to make everybody have to believe it. Well I’m calling it out is a lie. If you look at the market anytime the market goes up and anything positive from President Trump happens or said and it fights to go up. Since there are no uptick rules in place, it is then beaten down by more stories that I’m convinced are absolutely coordinated with those who want to drive the market down. If they get the market below 20,000 I have no idea where the bottom is and they’re going to destroy everybody’s wealth on purpose. You notice in the media there are no stories of anything positive yet you know it is happening. If you do not believe President Trump then you must agree with the media that there really is nothing positive. I think there are some here on freerepublic who are trolls and I think some don’t really want anything positive that happened perhaps they were like the loser Republicans who are happier under Obama because they made more money being in the losers column selling us out. I’m really sick and tired of those people who don’t even question any media stories better so convinced that this must be so awful oh no we’re running out of beds.
If, as this article says, COVID-19 causes minimal symptoms in most of the young people who contract it, then what the hell is the point of a government edict that shuts down private business establishments for EVERYONE?
As is often the case..my personal observations do not jibe with the propagandist’s view.
Am actually quite impressed that teens and 20 somethings appear to be taking this seriously.
I am sure there are some stupid adults doing stupid things...I imagine we wouldn’t be in this mess, in the first place, if there wasn’t.

I strongly agree with you! We have clearly progressed beyond common sense public health processes to Police State tactics. When recommendations about health become orders under government “emergency declarations” we have been transformed from citizens to prisoners. I certainly sympathize with people who want to avoid illness, but does not anyone value liberty and constitutional rights today?
Sounds like a plan but the spoiled rotten "I,ME,My,MINE" boomer generation that destroyed a once great nation will whine and cry that millennials won't put their life on hold while they drag it into total collapse.

I can’t believe too much of the story. Old people I know, and I knew lots who are 90s to 50s, because I play lots of bridge and bingo, they are very willing to stay home if they care. And go out if they don’t. And trust me, many of them want to just get the virus and take their chances. The scare ones are hiding in their home. And this strategy does not help them. They would prefer everyone gets it. So they can come out in 4 weeks. And their are the people with Crohn’s or MS or any of many diseases that cause them to have deficient immune systems. They really need to hide. But if nobody gets the virus, they are not better off. They need people to get it. So the herd will be immune. If kids under thirty not living with at risk people got the disease then we would be protected from wave two. But if the kids don’t get it. This thing never goes away.
